About us

The Supro tone has always been expressed as a unique and powerful voice - never a copy, clone or wannabe of any other major make of amplifier. Supro’s origin can be traced back to Chicago in the mid 30’s where manufacturing company Valco began producing guitars and amplifiers under the Supro name. By the late 60’s, Jimi Hendrix was playing a Supro Thunderbolt amp on tour with the Isley Brothers while Jimmy Page, inspired by the raw tones of the south-side Chicago blues scene, cut seminal Led Zeppelin tracks on a Supro Model 24. In September 2013, Absara Audio LLC acquired the Supro trademark and launched a collaboration between former Fender amp designer Bruce Zinky and Pigtronix sound designer David Koltai to realize a modern incarnation of the legendary Supro sounds from the Valco era. Our new line of USA made, vintage inspired Supro amplifiers will become available in 2014.
