✏️The 2024 General Prize Essay Contest—the Naval Institute’s oldest and most prestigious—is open for entries📝 The contest is open to all contributors—active-duty military, reservists, and veterans, both officer and enlisted, as well as civilians and academics. Essays may address any topic, although the attached flyer offers a few ideas that authors are welcome to consider. The three top essays will be published in the March Naval Review issue of Proceedings. In addition, there is a total of $11,000 in cash awards for the three winning authors, as well as recognition at the Naval Institute Annual Meeting. Eligibility: Open to all Guidelines: 3,000-word maximum (excluding endnotes) Include word count (but no author names) on title page. ⚓ 41st Surface Line Week (SLW) Pacific 2024 ends with the USS Jack H. Lucas - DDG 125 as the overall winner🥇 The week-long competition highlighted the professional and athletic skills of members of the Surface Warfare community in San Diego while enhancing camaraderie and team building. HMAS Brisbane (DDG 41) from the Royal Australian Navy won the 2024 SLW Spirit Award for small unit commands. “We were really excited to get the invitation to participate this year,” said Cmdr.
