It's DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (Day of the Dead)! Are you familiar with this traditional Mexican holiday? Many people think Dia de los Muertos is Mexico's version of HALLOWEEN, but this lively celebration, which can be traced back to pre-Hispanic times in Central America, is a tradition that helps families honor their ancestors and departed loved ones. In more rural regions of Mexico, celebration often begins on October 28th, but in larger cities it is typically celebrated on November 1st (All Saints Day) and November 2nd (All Souls Day or the Day of the Dead). During this time, families create altars or ofrendas, sow flowers, and light candles to honor their departed and help guide them back to the world of the living. Each day is designated for a different group of individuals who have passed on to the afterlife. ALL SOULS DAY or the DAY OF THE DEAD is the culmination of this multi-day celebration and typically begins at noon on November 2nd. It is believed that on this day, the vail between the world of the living and the world of the dead disappears and loved ones can come back for one day to visit. Celebrations include festivals and parades with vibrant calavera painted faces as well as cemetery visits where families leave marigold flowers, sugar skulls, and gifts near gravestones in remembrance of their departed loved ones. Do you celebrate Dia de Los Muertos? How do you honor your ancestors and loved ones who have passed on to the afterlife? Tell us in the comments below! 👇⬇️ #SurfInternet #DiadelosMuertos #DayoftheDead #AllSoulsDay #Celebration

Meet Heather! Heather is a ROCKSTAR on our Market Management team, building relationships with private property owners and working to bring high-speed, fiber-fast internet to residents who live in apartment and condo communities. She says what she loves most about working for Surf is how we are changing lives by filling a need and providing a reliable fiber internet service these community members didn’t have access to before. “I also enjoy how Surf is a growing company, yet it still feels like a family rather than a large corporate atmosphere.” Outside of work, Heather loves being a mom and supporting her 13-year-old daughter, who is very active in several sports and school choir. Whether she is cheering, coaching, organizing, bookkeeping, fundraising, or traveling for all of her daughter's many activities, she is always her biggest fan. . Additionally, Heather also likes to hang out with her two favorite fur babies, a 6-year-old Golden Retriever named Molly and a stray-turned-indoor cat she took in almost six years ago and lovingly named Betty White! Heather, where do you get all that energy!? We’re grateful to have you on the Surf Team. Keep up the amazing work! #SurfInternet #EmployeeSpotlight #Telecommunications

Today is NATIONAL CAT DAY! 😻🐈 National Cat Day was created to bring awareness to the overwhelming number of shelter cats in need of loving homes. According to the National Kitten Coalition, 3.4 million cats enter shelters nationwide each year and 1.4 million that enter shelters never leave. To help raise awareness for this cause, and in honor of shelter cats everywhere, we are showing off some of our Surf Cats! Whether you’re considering a purebred kitty or mixed-breed floof, you can find your new best friend at a shelter or with one of the thousands of pet rescue groups across the country, many of which are breed specific. Remember, ADOPT, DON'T SHOP! #SurfInternet #NationalCatDay #AdoptDontShop

More and more, people are cutting the cord and moving away from traditional TV viewing options like cable and satellite in lieu of popular streaming services that offer more flexible options and cheaper prices. We know that not everyone is aware of all the benefits and advantages of streaming TV, and even though it is becoming increasingly popular, some people still may not know how it works exactly. That’s why we decided to host our very first STREAMING 101 SESSION with residents of Herscher, Illinois at The Athletic Club to answer all their questions! 📺 Surf Representatives, Audrey Miller and Rhonda Russotti, did an awesome job educating residents about how they can “cut the cord” and use the many streaming options available to them! Attendees also learned how to check their Digital TV signals, set up a Roku device, discover which channels they receive for free, and navigate our website to take the https://hubs.la/Q02VVSsb0 quiz, finding the perfect streaming bundle for them! We received a very positive response for this event and we want to say THANK YOU to all those who came out to see us. We especially want to give a big SHOUT-OUT to Debbie Chmielowiec, Manager of The Athletic Club for letting us host our event there. If you want us to come to your area and host a Streaming 101 event, let us know in the comments below! ⬇️ To learn more about https://hubs.la/Q02VVSsb0, and to take their quiz, click here: https://hubs.la/Q02VVP_40 #SurfInternet #Streaming #DixonIL #Telecommunications
