A force united by a promise to end breast cancer, funding groundbreaking research, community health & advocacy programs.
About us
In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Two years later, that promise became the Susan G. Komen® organization and the beginning of a global movement. For over 40 years, we've led the way funding groundbreaking research, community health initiatives and advocacy programs in local communities across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. And with your help, we’ll continue pushing for progress to end breast cancer every day, until it’s a thing of the past. New statistics from the American Cancer Society show an increase in breast cancer diagnoses for women under 50. “This data confirms the need for women of all ages to know their personal breast cancer risk so that they can have informed conversations with their health care providers about the screening plan that’s right for them,” said Victoria Wolodzko Smart, senior vice president of mission at Susan G. Komen. Read more about the new report here: https://lnkd.in/eh7fEpSv

After being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at age 34 and taking things one day at time, Cecilia LaVariega Salvans was able to mentally keep it together through her diagnosis and treatment. Yet when treatment was complete and she was faced with navigating life with her new normal, the weight of what she had been through caught up to her and she found herself struggling. Tune in to the latest episode of Real Pink to hear what Cecilia has learned through her experience and how helping others by sharing her story has been the best medicine. https://apple.co/2LMAcsi

"For my daughters, my being positive for a BRCA2 gene mutation is a huge concern," Claudia said. "Passing something genetic on to your kids is terrifying." Read more: https://bit.ly/47vJCyy
