Sustainable Electronics Recycling International
About us
As a global non-profit organization, SERI works to create a world where electronics are reused and recycled in a way that promotes resource preservation, the well-being of the natural environment, and the health and safety of workers and communities. We understand that a critical part of achieving a true circular economy is becoming sustainable with our used electronics, and that it will take a concerted effort from everyone everywhere. Through our SERI Programs and the R2 Standard, we work collaboratively to find real, practical ways to shift thinking and create better decision making - not just around what we do with our electronics, but also with how we do it. Together, we can ensure that our electronics are doing a world of good…for everyone.

Thanks to Electronic Industries Association of India-ELCINA for giving this opportunity to share my views on global best practices and standards adopted in electronic manufacturing ecosystem. Participation was overwhelming and interactive. Questionnaires were also interesting and will help to improve next presentation for next session. Shortly, we will resume next webinar session on similar topic. This is heartening to note that manufacturers are keen to use international standards like #R2v3 for engaging their recycler partners. We are pleased to announce that following the tremendous success of the first webinar, MAIT successfully hosted its second #webinar titled "𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘-𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆" on 22nd October 2024. The session provided an in-depth exploration of important #international_standards that play a crucial role in the #recycling and #refurbishing industries. These standards, including #ISO_9001 (Quality Management), #ISO_14001 (Environmental Management), #ISO_45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and #R2v3 (Responsible Recycling), were discussed in detail with the aim of helping manufacturers align their practices with globally recognized benchmarks. By implementing these standards, #manufacturers can not only enhance operational efficiency and sustainability but also build trust and credibility across the entire electronics value chain. The session emphasized how adherence to these standards ensures that businesses meet both regulatory requirements and customer expectations, ultimately promoting #transparency, #accountability, and #reliability in the recycling and refurbishing processes. This approach helps establish a reputation for excellence, which is increasingly critical as the #electronics_industry faces growing demand for responsible e-waste management and sustainable practices. The enthusiasm of the audience was clearly reflected during the Q&A session and the discussions that took place throughout. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sandip Chatterjee, Senior Adviser at SERI, USA, and former Senior Director at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, for delivering an exceptionally insightful session. His expertise offered participants a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the role of standards in E-waste recycling within the electronics industry. Look out to this space for the information on the next sessions of the series! Thank you MAIT and Dr. Sandip Chatterjee Sir for spreading the knowledge about core E-waste certifications. In India I see certificates are available ranging from 2000 INR to 200000 INR. Some of them are mere piece of paper with no sanity . SERI has changed the way world looks at Certification . It's on of the toughest Certificates to have , as it goes into indepth analysis of processes of any E- waste recycler . I still claim 85% of recyclers of India are informal recyclers and that's one of the key reasons why 85% of ewaste out of 3.2 million Tons is recycled Informally. Soon these Recyclers will have to transform into Formal , Sophisticated and innovative Recyclers . SERI will have to play a major role to support this gigantic task in front of India. We look farward to work with SERI and all E waste Recyclers of India to bring this transformation. #mait #SERI #3RZEROWASTE #3RZW.
