Sustainable Northwest's Dallas Hall Defrees and Micah Stanovsky went to Hershey, PA recently for the USDA's Climate Smart Commodities convention. And they made it SIZZLE thanks to beef from our partners at Country Natural Beef. New things Dallas learned: some grills run off electricity, and Amazon can deliver almost anywhere (including her hotel -- if not to her rather rural home in eastern Oregon ... yet). 🤷♀️

This footage was taken very recently by the Yurok Tribe - showing Chinook salmon coming to spawn in Upper Klamath Basin tributaries where they have not been for 100 years. Thanks to the removal of four outdated, aging hydropower dams, the salmon returned within weeks to spawn in the creeks that their species still remember is the place for procreating. (Stay til the end to see that bird eat a salmon egg! Salmon feed entire ecosystems and human communities). #environment #conservation #naturalresources

Kelley Delpit's efforts often go unsung. Kelley is part of a Klamath Basin ranching family who also works for Sustainable NW holding quarterly "listening sessions" with farmers and ranchers throughout the Upper Klamath River Basin. We felt so seen by this writer for the Klamath Herald and News when they wrote: "For the most part, farming is a thankless job where most of the work goes unnoticed, but not by Sustainable Northwest." Yes! And the result is more conservation work getting done on the ground that supports farmers and ranchers, as well as clean water, wildlife habitat, and other benefits.
