The Paralympic Games start next week, and many athletes are standing up for important community causes: ❤️ Mental health 🤍 Anti-bullying 💙 Sports accessibility 💚 Climate action Twenty outstanding athletes earned the Athletes for Good award during the #Paris2024 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, four of whom who are Paralympians. Each received grants for charities they care about—a testament to the change they are making in the world! 🏈 Let the tailgates begin - college football is back! Today we highlight 4-time SSI participant, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum! Did you know they are the 2nd largest college stadium in the United States to achieve zero waste? Every game day, 80-145 custodial and staff members assist with zero waste goals alone. With the help of these zero waste super stars, they have diverted over 1,200 tons of waste form the landfill since 2015. Our 2024 SSI venues are heeding the NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's warning. They predicted an above normal Atlantic hurricane season, and 18% of venues are considering hurricane vulnerabilities to their venues this year. https://lnkd.in/gDzm_BaJ To support climate adaptation, NOAA continues to provide valuable resources to help everyone stay safe and prepared during hurricane season.
