    Part 3 of 3: Today's #sustainability news for technology partners. Updates for October 11, 2024 involve: 1. Funding:  Scope3 has raised $25 million in new funding led by GV (Google Ventures). The round included participation from existing investors Venrock, Room40 Ventures, and Craft Ventures, as well as from new investors Aperiam Ventures and Virgo Strategic Investments. Scope3 plans to "expand its work beyond the advertising ecosystem and tackle the pressing climate impact of the booming #AI industry," the company said. 2. Funding:  IN BOLD PRINT, a #carbonmanagement platform for businesses of all sizes, has raised $1 million in early stage funding. VC 414 led the round. 3. M&A - Carbon Accounting Software:  ISS-Corporate has acquired SustainaBase, a Florida-based provider of carbon accounting and data management software. Financial terms were not disclosed. 4. M&A - Software:  Benchmark Gensuite®, a provider of Environmental, Health, and Safety (#EHS) and sustainability software, has acquired Anvl, a provider of worker safety software. Private equity firm Vista Equity Partners owns a minority stake in Benchmark Gensuite. 5. M&A - Consulting:  CBRE Group has acquired NRG Energy's renewable advisory group. The focus: Brokering and advising on renewable energy transactions involving community solar, Virtual Power Purchase Agreements, and other opportunities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 6. M&A - Services:  Terex Corporation has acquired Environmental Solutions Group from Dover for $2 billion. The deal's value is roughly 8.4 times estimated EBITDA for 2024. 7. M&A - Data Center Services:  NV5 Global has acquired two domestic #datacenter commissioning and #energymanagement companies -- Kisebach Consulting, Inc. and Senergy BCS -- to "further accelerate NV5’s strong organic growth in the data center market." Senergy BCS delivers data center #HVAC and controls commissioning for state, federal, and private sector data center facilities in the United States and Canada. Kisebach Consulting provides energy engineering and mission critical building systems commissioning for data center facilities across the United States.     Part 2 of 3: Today's #sustainability news for technology partners. Updates for October 11, 2024 include: 11. Partnership - IT Consulting:  Capgemini and Sustaira have inked a global alliance partnership focused on sustainability software and services. 12. Device Lifecycle Management:  Assurant as opened a Device Care Center in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee (just outside of Nashville). The facility is a key hub for Assurant’s Device Lifecycle Solutions business, which in 2023 repurposed 22 million devices. 13. Growth - Business Energy Management:  Budderfly, which provides energy as a service to restaurant chains, assisted living facilities, and retail franchises -- expects to generate nearly $200 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in 2024. We don't know how much of the figure involves organic revenue vs. M&A. 14. Partnership - Residential Solar and Energy Storage:  Eaton and Lunar Energy are partnering to "simplify the installation and maximize the functionality of home energy storage and solar systems," the two companies said. The partnership integrates Eaton’s new AbleEdge smart breakers with the Lunar System to "make it easier for installers and homeowners to deploy solar and storage, manage loads, optimize costs and extend the life of the solar battery system," the two companies said. The joint solutions are expected to ship in early 2025. 15. Higher Education:  Ahmedabad University has opened the Climate Institute to focus on three verticals: (1) energy and #climatechange, (2) cities and settlements, and (3) air and water. The institute plans to work with the University of Chicago, the London School of Economics, and Warwick University, among others. 16. EV Charging - Partnership Update:  EVgo and Delta Electronics expanded their existing partnership, and plan to jointly develop next-generation #EVcharging solutions. The new chargers -- featuring enhanced reliability and energy efficiency -- should be deployed by the second half of 2026, the companies said. 17. EV Charging Infrastructure - Partnership:  3V Infrastructure and Camden Property Trust are partnering to deploy EV charging stations across portions of Camden’s property portfolio in the United States. 18. EV Charging - Home Installation Included:  ChargePoint Home Flex, a residential EV charging system for home use, now includes "simple, affordable, and straightforward home installation," the company said. 19. EV Sales: General Motors expects its EV (electric vehicle) business to achieve profitability by Q4 of 2024, SeekingAlpha reported. 20. Tesla Robotaxi Event: Analysts were not impressed with Tesla's #Robotaxi event on October 10, and the company's stock fell sharply, SeekingAlpha reported. Board of Directors:  Galvanize Climate Solutions, an investment firm, has appointed former U.S. Secretary of State #JohnKerry as co-executive chair. 2. AI and Data Center Energy Efficiency:  #HPE held its first ever #A day on October 10, 2024,, touting its fanless direct liquid cooling system and a new server powered by a new #AMD processor. Despite some pre-event hype, investors and analysts reacted tepidly to the event, #SeekingAlpha reported. 3. AI Data Center Options:  #OpenAI is seeking data center alternatives to #MicrosoftAzure, The Information reported. 4. Next-Gen AI and Nvidia: The emergence of "reasoning AI" will require cheaper computing, #Nvidia CEO predicted. 5. Cloud Services and AI: Microsoft Azure is the first cloud to run Nvidia's #Blackwell system, according to a Microsoft update. 6. Partnership - Consulting and #ESG Software:  RSM -- a provider of assurance, tax and consulting services for the middle market – has earned the new Workiva Carbon certification. 7. Training:  Good.Lab is now an Approved Training Partner by EcoVadis, the provider of business sustainability ratings. 8. Software Platform:  LTIMindtree, a global technology consulting and digital solutions company, has launched an ESG software platform called Smart Spaces 2.0. 9. Software:  Univers, a #decarbonization software provider based Singapore, is pitching EnOS Ark as an all-in-one enterprise decarbonization #SaaS platform. 10. Software Integration:  FM:Systems, a workplace management platform provider owned by Johnson Controls, has integrated #NetZero Advisor into the FMS:Insights platform. Customers can now "combine utilization data with energy usage data, revealing new opportunities to optimize energy consumption, reduce costs, and support sustainability goals," FM:Systems said.     Good Thursday morning. Here is today's #sustainability news for technology news. Updates for October 10, 2024 include: 1. Cloud Services: Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability has gained several updates, including enhancements to (1) AI-powered analytics and reporting in Microsoft Sustainability Manager, (2) the general availability of what-if analysis and intelligent insights, and (3) updates to Project #ESG Reporting, according to a blog from Brandon Potter, director for Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability. 2. Partnership - IT Consulting and Cloud Services: Infosys and Microsoft expanded their existing cloud partnership. Among the key areas of focus: The Infosys Energy Management Solution, coupled with Microsoft's commitment to sustainability, will "accelerate the #netzero journey for customers," the two companies said. 3. Software - Renewable Energy Management:  TruBoard Partners has launched #TruGreen, a software platform for managing #renewableenergy assets. The software has five modules: (1) TruAnalytica for real-time performance management analytics, (2) TruBuyer for renewable procure-to-pay solutions, (3) TruCovenant for enterprise compliance management, (4) TruOps for CMMS-based paperless operations, and (5) TruPrediction for accurate forecasting and scheduling capabilities. 4. AI and Energy Consumption:  EvoChip claims it can cut #AI #energyconsumption by up to 1000 times, though we have not independently confirmed the company's claims. 5. Self-Driving Cars: Long-awaited #Tesla #Robotaxi event is today... Stay tuned for updates. 6. Amazon Investments: The Amazon Climate Pledge Fund has invested in Molg, Paebbl, and 14Trees, the company said. 7. Accelerator:  #NEXC a #SiliconValley venture studio backed by NEC Corporation’s advanced technologies, has selected seven startups for its Batch 12 cohort. A few of the startups focus on sustainability. Examples include CEQAbase (environmental impact reporting software) and @LandWise Analytica (promotes sustainable agriculture through data-driven AI algorithms). 8. Investment - Renewable Energy Startup:  Goldman Sachs has invested $440 million into BrightNight, a #renewableenergy startup. 9. Financing - Data Center Connectivity:  DC BLOX, a #datacenter platform, has raised additional funding from Post Road Group and Bain Capital Credit. DC Blox now has the power to deploy "over $1 billion of total capital," though we don't know how much money each of the investors pumped into the data center company.     New chief sustainability officer to know: Global packaging specialist Amcor has promoted VP David Clark to chief sustainability officer (CSO). Four things to know... 1. Business Scope and Scale: Amcor is based in Zurich, Switzerland. The company's business roots extend back to the 1860s. Amcor positions itself as a responsible packaging provider for customers in such markets as food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, home and personal-care, among other sectors. The firm, backed by roughly 41,000 employees, generated $13.6 billion in annual sales for 2024. 2. Sustainability Strategy and Goals: Amcor in 2018 pledged to develop all packaging to be #recyclable or #reusable by 2025. The company also is striving to achieve #netzero by 2050. Among the recent milestones: In fiscal year 2023, Amcor reduced its absolute #GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by approximately 10% compared to the previous year. Also in fiscal year 2023, Amcor expanded and formalized #Scope3 data expectations for suppliers. 3. Chief Sustainability Officer: David Clark, previously Amcor VP of sustainability, has been appointed to the new chief sustainability officer role. Clark reports directly to CEO Peter Konieczny. 4. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement, CEO Peter Konieczny said elevating Clark to the CSO role "enables us to further increase our focus on the significant growth opportunity we can continue to unlock by commercializing solutions that drive the industry toward a circular economy for packaging, while reducing carbon footprint."     Good Monday morning. Here is today's #sustainability news for technology partners. Updates for October 7, 2024 include: 1. AI and Sustainable IT Services: Roughly 27% of organizations already apply #generativeAI in their #sustainableIT initiatives, and 63% of respondents plan to follow suit by the end of 2024, an IBM survey found. 2. IT Services and Software Sustainability: Through collaborations with the Green Software Foundation (GSF) and the introduction of Green FaaS (Function as a Service) concept, NTT DATA is "paving the way for a more sustainable future in software development," the global IT services company asserts. 3. SEC Investigates EV Maker: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission sent several subpoenas to #EV maker Fisker, #SeekingAlpha reported, as part of an #SEC investigation into the bankrupt automaker. 4. Energy Transition Pivot: Fossil fuel giant bp has abandoned a target to cut oil and gas output by 2030 as CEO Murray Auchincloss scales back BP's #energytransition strategy to regain investor confidence, Reuters reported. 5. Startup Funding:  Submer has raised $55.5 million, led by M&G plc. Additional investors include Planet First Partners, Norrsken VC and Mundi Ventures. Submer develops sustainable immersion cooling solutions for #datacenters. 6. Business Spin-Off:  Jacobs Solutions completed the spin-off of various IT and cyber solutions to Amentum. The spin-off allows Jacobs to further sharpen its focus on science-based consulting and advisory solutions that address critical infrastructure and sustainability challenges. 7. M&A - Solar Installation Services: UK renewable energy supplier Good Energy Group has acquired Amelio Solar Energy for £5.5 million (US$7.2 million) in cash, and a potential earn-out of £500,000 (US$654,000) if Amelio Solar hits profit targets for fiscal year 2024. In 2023, Amelio Solar revenue was £7.1 million (US$9.3 million) and pretax profit was £1.4 million (US$1.8 million). The deal's valuation therefore is roughly 4X to 5.6X Amelio Solar's 2023 pretax profit. 8. M&A:  Xpansiv has acquired certain assets from PineSpire, a provider of revenue management services for #lowcarbon fuels in California, Washington, Oregon, and Canada. Financing - EV Charging:  EVgo has received a conditional commitment for a loan guarantee of up to $1.05 billion of debt financing, from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Loan Programs Office. The financing paves the way for EVgo to build out approximately 7,500 additional fast charging stalls across the United States. EVgo named a new CFO in September 2024 and shook up its executive management team in early 2024 after a CEO succession in late 2023. 12. Funding - Renewable Energy: India's Jakson Green is closing in on a more than 40 billion-rupee ($476.4 million) fundraise to expand its #RenewableEnergy capacity, Reuters reported. 13. Fund: The multilateral Climate Investment Funds plans to invest up to $1 billion to help accelerate the development of technologies to cut climate-damaging industrial sector emissions in developing countries, Reuters reported. 14. M&A - Liquid Cooling and Data Centers:  Jabil has acquired Mikros Technologies, a provider of liquid cooling solutions for thermal management. Many #datacenter owners increasingly leverage #liquidcooling to offset heat from hardware that runs #AI workloads. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 6. M&A - Consulting:  SLR Consulting (#SLR) has acquired Malk Partners, an #ESG consultancy for #FinancialServices firms. Malk’s expertise spans private equity, growth equity, venture capital, credit, real estate, and infrastructure asset classes, the company said. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 7. M&A - HVAC Expertise:  Aeroseal has acquired Advanced World Trading (#AWT), a Saudi Arabian firm that specializes in energy savings and air duct sealing. AWT will be rebranded as Aeroseal Arabia.
