Research shows rich countries could raise $5 trillion annually for climate finance through windfall taxes on fossil fuels, ending harmful subsidies, and a wealth tax on billionaires. Developing nations seek at least $1 trillion annually to cut emissions and handle extreme weather impacts. However, rich countries are proposing much lower sums through conventional climate finance, such as low-interest loans. It’s a pleasure to introduce our newest SCA Fellows: Cindy Cai, Samir Chowdhury, Charisma Daniel, and Jacob Roy! Participants in SCA’ s Fellowship Program provide meaningful support to our team through business development, research, and communications activities. Cindy is attending Duke University where she is getting her master's degree in Management Studies. She has a bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Melbourne. During her Fellowship, Cindy will be a part of the SCA Municipal Finance team serving cities and states across the country. Samir currently attends Stanford University where he is simultaneously pursuing his BS in Management Science & Engineering and his MS in Sustainability Science & Practice. Samir will be contributing to the development of SCA's Sustainable Infrastructure Finance Academy (SIFAC) platform and other climate finance focused client engagements. Charisma attends Stony Brook University where she is getting her MS in Science Communication. She holds a bachelor's degree in Biology and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a Fellow, Charisma will contribute to the SCA Strategic Consulting team with a focus on content creation and information sharing. Jacob is attending Georgetown University where he is pursuing his MS in Environment and Sustainability Management. He has a BA in Political Science from The George Washington University.
