About us

In short, “Becoming You” is designed to help us each uncover the best, most thoughtful answer to the often elusive question, “What should I do with my life?” The “Becoming You” method springs from the experience and research of Suzy Welch, Professor of Management Practice at NYU Stern School of Business, 3X NYT bestselling author, CEO advisor, and creator of “10-10-10: A Life Transforming Idea,” a value-driven decision-making tool taught around the world. “Becoming You: Crafting the Authentic Life You Want and Need” guides individuals through the profound, exhilarating, and sometimes surprising journey to their authentic purpose, a life and career rich with opportunity, meaning, and impact. The methodology grows out of the premise that the most fulfilling (and thus, happiest) lives are those lived in one’s “Area of Transcendence,” the intersection of: → Our deepest and most authentic values, → Our most unique skills and aptitudes, → And the economy’s most rewarding and personally interesting spheres of opportunity. It might be said that the “Becoming You” process lands us at a place where we are doing what we want to be doing, what we should be doing, and what the world needs us to be doing. Which is why we cannot promise you that the process is easy. It is not. But it can be fun, fascinating, and ultimately, one of the most rewarding journeys you will ever take.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are two types of people in the world. Those who know it’s summer and those who don’t. Guess which I am? OK, here’s a hint. In a fit (snit?) of frustration, I’ve just decided to offer “Becoming You: Crafting the Authentic Life You Want and Need” to anyone who can find their way to New York City in early September for three days. I just couldn’t take it anymore! I’m out there talking about how effectively Becoming You helps answer, “What should I do with my life?” and how much I love teaching it. And then people end up saying, “Great, how can I take it?” To which I am forced to answer, “Um, enroll at NYU for a few years.” So I decided to blow up my summer to create an intensive, accelerated Becoming You program open to all. (Full disclosure, this is not free, like my webinars.) I wasn’t really doing summer anyway. Writing a book does that to you. And frankly, this endeavor has me as excited as…a day at the beach! Hope to see you there! Learn more about the program here: https://lnkd.in/ez34xvki

Some thoughts on something that all of us do, perhaps written to avoid doing it!

I have exhausted the dogs at the park. Poured my second iced coffee. Organized the Sticky Notes. And now, all I have to do is write the darned thing. Just that. Writing never gets easier. Isn’t that the truth? But I’m not really talking about “writing” here. All of us can write. I’ve been doing it every day of my life since I started my first diary, oddly dubbed “Vinnie” by 11-year old Suzy 🤷🏻♀️. Writing is a skill. ➡️Ideas⬅️ are another thing entirely. They are the hard part of writing. Very, very, very hard. A friend once asked me why I just didn’t dictate my books; what was the big deal? “It just doesn’t work that way,” I told her. “I wish it did.” There is some magical alchemy to “writing.” That’s really what I’m saying, and I bet most of you know what I mean. The end result is typed words on the page. But hours, months, or even years of invisible brain stuff has to happen first for an idea to be born, to grow up in your mind, and become ready for release into the wild. For one particular set of ideas in my own noggin, that day has come. Wish me luck. Fellow writers, you know how good it will feel…WHEN IT’S DONE.
