Striving to be a professional learning partner with our districts.
About us
The Center for Professional Learning and Curriculum Support at SWBOCES serves more than 32 PreK-12 districts, 143 schools, 300+ leaders, and 9250+ teachers each year through our diverse and robust portfolio of programs and services and impacts more than 78,963 students. Our programs and services are grounded in research and focused on practical teaching and learning experiences. We blend academic excellence, expertise in curriculum and pedagogy with transformative professional learning opportunities to inform and improve the knowledge, skills, and competencies of educators who provide high-quality learning experiences for all students. Professional learning opportunities are designed to support all members of a school district in their specific roles. We rely on our meaningful partnerships with districts, particularly Curriculum Council members, institutions of higher education, and initiates from NYSED to inform and prioritize programs each year and to foster a culture of collaborative responsibility to positively impact teaching and learning. Using data collected from these stakeholders, we build experiences that include embedded coaching, workshops, institutes, online learning, and special events for individual teachers, schools, districts, micro-networks, and special councils across the region. While all of our professional learning programs address both content and pedagogy, our professional learning opportunities are grouped by emphasis; content-focused (subject/ grade level) and strategy-specific. Whether you learn with us at our campus, 450 Mamaroneck Ave. Harrison, NY, in your district, or online, our programs are led by the Center’s faculty, professors from higher education, and carefully selected experts chosen for their proven successes and recognized for their ability to teach, lead, build capacity, and connect with educators. We invite you to explore the many ways we can partner with you, your school, and/or your districts on your learning journey.

On October 15, our PLCS team took part in a fun and engaging team-building exercise called Crossing the River, where cardboard squares served as lily pads! This activity helped us strengthen key skills: 🤝 Teamwork: We worked together—no one left behind! 🗣️ Communication: Sharing thoughts, resources, and space was essential. 🧠 Critical Thinking: Strategy and balance were key to crossing the river. 📝 Planning: We planned and executed each step with precision. ⏳ Sense of Urgency: The pressure was on, and we thrived! It was a fantastic way to sharpen our teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills! #TeamBuilding #CrossingTheRiver #Collaboration #CriticalThinking #swbocesplcs

On October 16, our RECOVS Grant Consortium’s Mental Health Educational Leaders Partnership (MHELP) group came together to explore innovative approaches to schoolwide SEL (Social-Emotional Learning), analyze SEL & mental health data, and dive into MTSS-I (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support-Integrated) plans.
