Another successful SWOS University training with our partners from Martin Marine. Deckhands from six Martin Marine vessels experienced a hands-on, and interactive training. We love showing off our clean newly fabricated lines on social media. But the truth is, these ropes are put to work, and they aren't always so clean and new. This rope outlasted its hardware and was brought back to SWOS to be refitted. The worn out hardware was replaced with the clean new thimbles you see here. The utility of this line was restored, and it was safely put back into service.

Amsteel Blue is a 12-strand single braid HMPE (or High Modulus Polyethylene) synthetic rope that, size-for-size, is as strong as steel, making it an excellent wire rope replacement. At only one-seventh the weight of wire, it is a safe and efficient solution for applications where wire is traditionally used.

SYNTHETIC ADVANTAGE: Shock absorption. Nylon has excellent elasticity, allowing it to absorb shock loads from waves or sudden movements without snapping. This is crucial in mooring situations where wind gusts or choppy water can create unexpected strain. 4-strand construction (pictured here) efficiently distributes this strength, making the rope capable of handling significant pulling forces. Compared to stiffer ropes like steel cables, 4-strand nylon is more manageable. Its smooth construction allows for easier coiling, tying, and untying, even when wet.
