Chrissy Palermo brings 24 years’ experience with expertise in Ocean Cargo/STP underwriting and brokerage. Prior to joining Synapse, Chrissy started with Crump Insurance Services where she gradually rolled into Cargo/STP Underwriting. She has assisted in preparing Underwriting Program Requirements over London Binding Authorities. Along with Cargo knowledge, she also had the opportunity to Underwrite and Broker Marine Liabilities under a Scottsdale Cover. After 16 years with Crump, she moved over to Worldwide Facilities focusing on building the Cargo presence within Worldwide and Retail Brokers. Chrissy enjoys finding solutions for her clients in complex and often difficult placements. She is a big advocate for collaboration and cross-selling to ensure her client's needs are being met. Due to a high increase in theft and fires around construction sites, underwriters of Builders Risk are now looking at what steps are being taken around construction sites to make them more secure and safe. Measures such as perimeter fencing, access control systems, surveillance cameras, alarms, lighting, security personnel, inventory management, tracking devices, employee training, and community engagement can go a long way in helping to prevent theft. Fire safety is just as critical. Having enough fire suppression equipment along with fire safety training is an important first step. Proper protocols and training employees on handling heat generating tools and the storage of flammable and combustible materials is a must.
