The SMI Team was in Grand Rapids, MI last week to participate in the 2024 Eastern Regional Interstate Child Support Association (ERICSA) Training Conference & Exposition. We had a blast connecting and sharing ideas with colleagues in the #ChildSupport Community around this year’s conference theme of “Helping Hands – Bridging Bright Futures for Families.” In honor of this theme and, coincidentally, #FinancialLiteracyMonth, on Monday, we were pleased to present our latest financial product, Kudzu! While still in its beta stage, Kudzu is a comprehensive financial services provider focused on helping students and personal finance beginners prepare for and achieve long-term financial growth. A natural progression from our smiONE™ Visa® Prepaid Card products, Kudzu offers spending and interest-earning savings accounts, built-in Climb™ tools for cultivating money mindfulness and smart habits and PayPerks®, gamified financial literacy tutorials to encourage customers and families to take the next step towards financial freedom. As subject matter experts with front-line knowledge, ERICSA attendees were invited to participate in our current Kudzu pilot to help us hone in on feedback relevant to our target audiences in the child support community. As we continue to socialize and refine this product with our partners, we look forward to Kudzu’s official launch later this year, which will assist in efforts to enhance our support for custodial parents, non-custodial parents, participants in child support-led employment services, participants in re-entry programs and students and teens. And, the award will now be known as the “Lisa Skenandore Award for Excellence in Leadership.” This award is a testament to Lisa’s exceptional leadership, vision, innovation, strategic thinking and ability to motivate and inspire others. Lisa has served as SMI’s Vice President of Business Operations since 2016 and has dedicated her career to supporting various human services programs, where she found her passion in child support. What a way to celebrate #NationalChildSupportAwarenessMonth! SMI has been in Anaheim, CA this week for the National Child Support Enforcement Association Leadership Symposium. The symposium is an annual conference for the child support community to come together and discuss best practices, partnerships, and innovative thinking within the child support program. It’s been such a great opportunity to learn from and share ideas with our colleagues across the nation. On Monday, SMI was honored to receive NCSEA’s Corporate Associate of the Year Award, which recognizes a corporate member that contributes to and aids the child support community through advocacy and active partnership. We’ve always been committed to Going the Extra Mile with a Passion to Serve. We recognize and embrace our shared responsibility to deliver excellent service and support, and these values shine through in every facet of our business. As you all well know, it takes a village.
