About us
SYZYGY: The nearly straight-line configuration of three celestial bodies - such as the sun, moon, and earth during a solar or lunar eclipse. We chose this name because it expresses our view that to succeed in Executive Recruiting, there has to be an alignment of interests between our client company, the candidate we are recruiting, and ourselves. When we have achieved SYZYGY, then we will all be successful and happy. SO... What do we do? - Executive Recruiting We know a lot of interesting people. Those interesting people know even more people, who are often even more interesting. If you are looking for either highly-qualified and experienced people to round out your Leadership Team, or specialized technicians with security clearances, we can certainly find them. - Research and Fact Papers Good decisions require solid, verifiable and impartial facts. We learned that hard lesson on the battlefield where wishful thinking gets people hurt - or worse. As a third-party provider, we are immune to the organizational group-think that is so prevalent in some businesses. Our professional reputation and success relies upon our accuracy, and not our ability to play office politics or prepare for our next professional move. If you ask us a question, we will provide the best and most truthful, up-to-date, and fact-founded answer we can find. Sources will be cited and linked where appropriate. - Opinions & Analyses In the absence of hard facts, decision-makers are sometimes forced to make their decisions based on valid assumptions and credible opinion. In addition to hard facts, the other byproducts of research and study should be valid assumptions and credible opinions, and we certainly have those! We can help your organization "look ahead" to assess the business and political risks you might face with various courses of actions you might be considering. We have never been shy about telling people what we think.

I have spent the past several days doing some business reconnaissance and exploring the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area for possible expansion and BD opportunities. The area is BOOMING! I want to give a special thanks to Diane Raihle of the Hampton Roads Chamber - Virginia’s largest - for giving me an excellent orientation to the area, and to Heather Platz, REALTOR®, MRP of THE REAL ESTATE GROUP LLC for a market overview that really helped us map out our week. More to follow as things develop in this area.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! One year ago today, we made the leap from working for someone else, to working for OURSELF! We were profitable within six months, and we remain profitable today. We knew then that we could be leaner, faster, and more efficient than our previous employer, and thereby provide better and less expensive service to our clients. And THAT is precisely what we have done! If you are looking for that "Unicorn" with the rare experience, training, and/or security clearance, we can find them. And we guarantee our work. Give us a call at 202.226.6768, or drop us an email: info@syzygystrategic.com Or, you can simply "feed the algorithm" by hitting LIKE on this post and telling us CONGRATULATIONS! in the comments. 😊

“Syzygy” means an alignment of three elements. In our case those three elements are the “client”, the “candidate”, and “us”. When the interests and aspirations of all three parties are aligned, then we have crafted a successful and lasting deal. We CERTAINLY created “syzygy” here with this one! CONGRATULATIONS to both Ronald Appel and Harmonia Holdings Group, LLC!

Vice President and Subject Matter Expert for Law Enforcement and Cyber at the Harmonia Holdings Group, LLC
Today is my last day at Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). I am retiring after 30 years in law enforcement. The past 24 years I have served as a special agent with HSI and it's predecessor agency the U.S. Customs Service Office of Investigations. Today also happens to be the 235th birthday of the U.S. Customs Service. It was a fantastic experience and I am grateful to have met many remarkable people along the way. I have been very fortunate to have had positive people influence my life and I'll continue to do my best to pay that forward. Thank you to my family and friends for putting up with me. I'm excited to see what is coming during this next chapter.
