Tailored Consulting specializes in leadership and team development training, coaching, and consulting. We use the CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder) assessment as a foundational tool in our work to help leaders improve productivity, communication, retention, job satisfaction, and engagement on their teams. We provide facilitation services for events like leadership retreats, employee development days, and strategic planning off-sites. Leaders, read this. Culture is abstract and elusive to work on, but 100% worth thinking about and acting on.
3 Basics about workplace culture that have been on my mind lately: 1) At its core, culture is “how we do things around here.” 2) Culture is in the mind of the employee, despite what leadership thinks it is. 3) Most companies don’t actually know what their culture is. I don’t share that last one to gaslight anyone. I believe it’s true based on my own experience and research while working on my book on organizational culture. It’s scary to bring in an expert to tell you what your culture is like. It can feel like an indictment on your company and leadership if there’s any bad news. Thats why I’m working on a way to evaluate workplace culture that isn’t as scary. Leaders just lack good information about their culture. Good information builds organizational self-awareness. This week I facilitated a multi-day planning event and got to use my escape room style leadership training again. This has become one of my favorite activities to do with leadership teams, as we still learn impactful leadership principles, but we do it in a fun and interactive way. You can’t see it in the picture, but there are four small treasure chests at the front of the room, and each one has a different token that the leaders get to keep after they find the hidden key for each chest. The tokens are a physical reminder of the four leadership principles we cover throughout. Leaders, don’t underestimate the value of prioritizing time with your team. It was apparent with this group that with everything going on in their daily operations, when they felt like they couldn’t afford to step away…they really needed to step away. We talked about important topics that they never get to talk about, and we literally laughed and cried together. Take a step back. Regroup. Reset. At Tailored Consulting, we usually charge a higher hourly rate for group coaching when working with companies, but we want to try something different. If you are interested in pulling together your own group of friends, colleagues, or family members to receive group coaching, We'll provide a certified coach to facilitate your group at our standard individual hourly rate - that means you would split the cost with everyone in your group. Maybe you have a group of friends interested in an accountability group for your 2024 exercise or personal development goals. Maybe you are interested in starting a business with some partners and want to make sure you're making progress. Maybe you want to have your family members take the CliftonStrengths assessment and learn how to better communicate.
