Choice, horses, and therapy: We emphasize the importance of giving the horse (and human) a choice and asking for their consent. We do this for a couple of reasons- for one it is the most ethical approach. But, giving the horse a choice also has therapeutic value. Many of our clients have had their choices stripped from them at some point. They didn't have autonomy. When we give horses a choice and honor their choice, we are literally helping the client to rewire their own thinking around choice, voice, and autonomy. By giving the horse a choice and being ok with what they choose, we are modeling the importance of autonomy and choice. Our "yes" is only whole-hearted when we are also allowed to say "no." So many of us struggle with saying "no" because our perceived value is based on what others think of us -- but is it truly a safe and healthy relationship if the person doesn't value your "no"? With people and horses, we know how important a voice and a choice are in developing confidence, authenticity, safety, and healthy relationships. Reach out to us today. Give yourself the power to choose and regain your voice in your life. Celebrating 10 years of Hope. Healing. Horses.

"Am I doing enough? How can I best support my child? Why does it feel so isolating sometimes?" If these questions echo in your mind, you're not alone. Having three neurodiverse children of my own, I deeply resonate with the complexities and emotions that come with it. Have you ever considered the transformative healing power of horses? Their natural ability to connect and communicate with humans has been a beacon of clarity and rejuvenation for many, myself included. While equine-assisted therapy offers unique insights, it's also a medium where I’ve found solace in addressing layers of anxiety, depression, and trauma. Whether you're a seasoned parent in the neurodiverse community or just starting to find your way, there's a space for you here. Let’s create moments of understanding and therapeutic connection, merging our shared experiences with the powerful embrace of equine assistance. Feel compelled? Reach out, and let's embark on this journey of hope, healing, and horses together. Warm wishes, Danielle, PhD, LPC, LBS, NLT-II Reach out today to start your journey: https://lnkd.in/erKuSGZJ Celebrating 10 years of Hope. Healing. Horses.

Last week, Meagan and Nicole had the pleasure of meeting with Michele and Emily from Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County! We did a little gator-safari, made new horse-friends, and discussed how we can partner together to serve our community. They do amazing work supporting everyone who is affected by breast cancer. We are grateful for like-minded organizations like them who provide hope to our community. Thank you ladies for coming out and we can't wait to see where this partnership goes! If you would like to partner with us, email our business operations manager, Nicole at Nicole@TakeHeartCounseling.com to schedule a visit! Celebrating 10 years of Hope. Healing. Horses.
