Just came across an interesting post about AI replacing jobs, and honestly? I get the concern. But after all these years in tech, I see things a bit differently. Here's what we often miss in this conversation: 🔷 AI today is a productivity multiplier, not a human replacement. We don’t yet have a clear path to AGI as per lot of experts, and current LLM approach excels at significantly augmenting human productivity. 🔷 Historical precedent matters. Every major technological shift has initially sparked job displacement fears, yet human ingenuity has consistently created new opportunities. The key difference now is the pace of change. 🔷 The expansion principle: As productivity rises through AI adoption, we typically see increased demand for leisure, entertainment, and specialized services. This creates entirely new value chains and job categories we couldn't have imagined before. This expansion will also lead to the emergence of new asset classes, fostering wealth redistribution as ownership models evolve alongside these innovations. Am I worried? No. Cautiously optimistic? Absolutely! Every time technology has leveled up, we humans have too. The focus should be on creating frameworks for the workforce to evolve alongside AI, rather than viewing it as a zero-sum game. When demand is lower than supply, there will always be attempts to subvert the system. In the case of jobs and selection, it used to be question leakage , impersonation, getting resume/cv ghostwritten etc. Technology made that difficult over time. Meanwhile test prep and interview prep companies made their inroads making it difficult to make accurate selection. Now it has moved to using #GenAI to rewrite CVs, fake interviews etc. And again tech is scrambling to find solutions and some have been effective too. This time around it's time for hiring managers and employers to stay ahead rather than to play catch up. #AI has the potential to help do this but will need early adoption instead of scepticism. Eg: AI can help recruiters and interviewers ask the right questions that can catch the 'prepared' candidate off guard . Maybe recraft questions on the fly based on responses given during an assessment. Create an intuitive deterrence for cheating with effective online proctoring. At the same time , there are many solutions touting to be AI and effective where in most cases they are probably disguised automation. Where are you on the solution curve to this selection problem?
