The Tampa Bay Chamber supports the renewal of the Community Investment Tax. Voting for renewal on November 5th is importation to our region’s future!
What is this “CIT” everyone is talking about? 🤔 The Community Investment Tax (CIT) is a half-percent sales tax that was approved by Hillsborough County voters in September 1996 for a period of 30 years. It expires November 30, 2026. Over the past 28 years since the tax was approved by the voters, it has provided about $2.3 billion TOTAL to fund or partially fund 757 capital improvement projects in the county. The City of Tampa received about $434 million and used those funds for things like public safety vehicles, parks improvements, stormwater repairs, contractually obligated maintenance of Raymond James Stadium & Amalie Arena, and more. Learn more at tampa.gov/CIT.
