Congratulations to former Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation Board Trustee Joe Henkel '71 on being recognized for 50 years of service as a True Texas Community Banker!
Last week, the Board of Directors of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas had the honor of presenting Joe Henkel, Vice Chairman of the Board of Kleberg Bank, with an IBAT board resolution recognizing more than 50 years of service as a True Texas Community Banker. Joe started his career at Kleberg Bank in 1970 while a student at Texas A&I. After graduation, he continued with Kleberg Bank, becoming a Vice President, before moving to the Houston area in 1978. In 1993, he became Chief Executive Officer of an independent bank in El Paso, until 1998 when he was named President and Chief Executive Officer at Kleberg First National Bank in Kingsville, where he stayed until his retirement in 2018. He was then elected as Vice Chairman for Kleberg & Company Bankers, Inc. and still serves in that capacity. Joe served on the IBAT Services Board for six years as well as the IBAT Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee and is a loyal PAC contributor. Congratulations on this milestone achievement, Joe!
