A huge thank you to Senator King and his staff for visiting the UMaine Process Development Center yesterday. Our team shared some of the innovative research being conducted across UMaine using nanocellulose, many directed at replacing plastics. We had a demonstration of how nanocellulose can be used to extinguish fires and prevent reignition - eliminating the need for PFAS. We are grateful for Senator King’s continued dedication to our research and development to create real forest-based solutions for a vibrant forest economy in Maine. Maine State Chamber of Commerce President/CEO, Patrick Woodcock, recently visited Tanbark Molded Fiber Products located in Saco. Using pulp sourced from Maine mills, Tanbark manufactures custom, eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic packaging for businesses such as Luke's Lobster. Keeping with their sustainability focus, their innovation process recycles trim back into new products, resulting in minimal waste.
