It’s Tank Trouble Tuesday! A fueling facility in Tanknology’s Southeast region requested a TankCam inspection of a 10,000 gallon fiberglass tank to inspect for undesirable conditions or abnormal operating conditions. The tank held premium unleaded. The customer also requested a TankClean Remote Video UST Cleaning. The TankCam inspection revealed a build up of residue and sludge on the bottom and sides of the tank. Debris was also found in the tank. After the TankClean Remote Video UST Cleaning, the TankCam shows that the sludge, residue and debris were removed and the tank was clean. The tank was later placed back into service. The tank held diesel. The TankCam inspection revealed a large amount of oxidation, corrosion, and residue in the tank. Drops were observed at each riser bung, and potential ingress sites were obscured by the accumulation of residue. The bottom tank was obscured by product. After the TankClean Remote Video UST Cleaning, the TankCam shows that the sludge had been removed and the tank was clean. The tank was later placed back into service. The tank held diesel. The TankCam inspection found a water ingress near tank bottom in the area of the ATG probe. A large crack was found and liquid was seen entering the tank.
