  • What does it mean to represent a small creative agency at the White House? For The Brand Building Shop, it means amplifying our community’s voice in the highest places. 🙌 Thanks to the initiative led by Lorena Patterson and the NC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce , we had the honor to bring insights and perspectives from North Carolina’s creative and innovative industries directly to national leaders in Washington, DC. We engaged in meaningful discussions with: 🔸 SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman on supporting Latin-owned businesses post-Hurricane Helene. 🔸 Experts from the U.S. Department of Energy on expanding clean energy programs with nonprofits. 🔸 The Inter-American Development Bank on opportunities for creative and tech companies to expand their impact. These moments shape our mission: to make creative strategy and storytelling tools that empower communities, businesses, and causes.     💡 Why do so many organizations opt for the safety of predictable failure over the boldness of creative solutions? At some point, "controlled risk" morphed into an "aversion to creativity," leading many organizations to cling to stagnant strategies. They follow the herd, thinking it's the safest move. Yet, as Rory Sutherland aptly puts it: “Being in the same marketplace as everybody else is a race to the bottom.” 📉 The Issue: Organizations often approach problems with a purely logical mindset. They devise a series of rational strategies and then call on creative agencies to "make it look nice." But this backward approach is flawed. 🔍 The Root Cause: Creativity should be at the heart of the problem-solving process, not an afterthought. Insights, often driven by emotion, are uncovered early in the creative process. When these insights are forced into a rigid, logical framework, the results fall flat. ⚙️ The AI and Automation Trap: As industries race towards AI, automation, and mass content production, a sea of undifferentiated blandness emerges. Only the top players with abundant resources stand out. The rest? They risk fading into obscurity. 🚀 The Solution: Embrace creativity. Dare to be different, relevant, and bold.     Here's how to skyrocket your brand storytelling: Lasagna. Sounds like a joke, but it's a simple way to improve your brand. Instead of talking about helping your clients deal with An Obstacle, focus on their Conflict. A conflict is a group of obstacles that interact at different levels. When talking about your brand, make sure to cover: The External obstacle (what the client wants) The Threatening obstacle (the consequences of failing to achieve the goal) The Internal obstacle (the emotional questions of your clients) This will allow you to touch different points of your clients and shift the attention from the technicalities of what you offer to an emotional relationship with your clients' complex feelings. You are not selling a product or service, you sell a mix of feelings that resonate with your customers. If it has many tasty layers, people will love it.     Your way to create Impact is simple. You may not see it right away, but it is within reach. We usually associate Impact with the outcome of a specific process. But this way of looking at things fails to see a deeper process: The accumulation of changes that lead toward that outcome. I was talking with a friend today about facing challenges and he mentioned a quote by Winston Churchill: "Those who never change their minds, never change anything". That left me thinking of all the "little" changes we go through when we want to accomplish something. And in some cases, the outcome is not the one we expected. Yet, the accumulation of changes made us somehow different. And with that difference, ready to deal with new experiences. What if we could do that consciously? What if we took the time to change one little thing every day? A habit, a thought, a routine. Creativity, after all, is about finding new connections, seeing beyond the obvious, and tweaking things a bit, so that the world (the outside or our internal one) has something new. The most impactful thing we can do is to practice conscious change. Whether it is internal or external. Living a creative life always leads to some sort of impact. And the scale of the impact is always bigger than the accumulation of those changes. #impact #change #selfgrowth #creativity

    LIVE ON BRAND, DIE ON BRAND. Story for coffee lovers. ☕️ Renato Bialetti, is known for his iconic Moka Express coffee maker. Born in Italy in 1923, he inherited his father’s business and elevated it with innovative design. The Moka Express coffee maker, crafted by him, became a synonym of Italian craftsmanship. Its sleek aluminum body and distinctive octagonal shape, which a some people compare to the Coca-Cola bottle in terms of identity have become iconic symbols of both style and functionality. This coffee maker became a brand that represents tradition, quality, and the art of brewing espresso at home, cherished by coffee enthusiasts globally. This brand identity, tied to the family name, became so important, that when Renato passed away, his family decided to keep his ashes in a huge reproduction of his famous creation.
