The U.S. Senate just passed the Kids Online Safety and Privacy Act which combines two longtime AAP priorities: the Kids Online Safety Act and the Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act. Social media wasn’t designed with kids in mind and for years, pediatricians have spoken out against the urgent need to create healthier digital ecosystems for kids and teens. Today’s vote would help do just that. Thank you to all of the senators who listened to their many pediatrician constituents who called, wrote, and visited in-person to advocate for this crucial bill which has been a top legislative priority for more than two years. Pediatricians will continue to push for this bill’s passage into law, and the AAP urges the House of Representatives to act quickly.

🧠💬 The type of aphasia a person has depends on which part of the brain is damaged and the extent of the damage. Aphasia is usually diagnosed based on which area of the language-dominant side of the brain is affected, often the left side. Aphasia can be categorized into two main types: fluent and nonfluent: 🔹 Nonfluent aphasia This type can make speech halting and difficult to produce. People with Broca's aphasia, a type of nonfluent aphasia, may still be able to understand language well. 🔹 Fluent aphasia People with fluent aphasia can produce connected speech with intact sentence structure, but their sentences may lack meaning. Wernicke's aphasia, caused by damage to the temporal lobe of the brain, is the most common type of fluent aphasia. Understanding these types helps in providing the right support and therapy. 🌟💙 #AphasiaAwareness #NationalAphasiaAwarenessMonth #BrainHealth #SpeechTherapy #LanguageDisorder #SupportAndRecovery References: National Aphasia Association (The National Aphasia Association) Mass General Brigham Health Plan (Mass General Brigham Health Plan Blog) Mount Sinai Health System (Mount Sinai Today)
