All passed with flying colors 🔥🔥🔥 TBM Hardwoods hosted a workshop in Hanover, PA where our team learned the NHLA Hardwood Grading Rules for the inspection of lumber. The NHLA Grading Rules set the standards for our industry. Learning to apply the rules is critical to controlling quality. Team-wide knowledge of the rules will help boost internal communications as well as give everyone specifics as to how to maintain, if not improve, the quality of the thousands of boards that move through our yard each day. Thank you NHLA. #qualityhardwoods #nhla #deliverquality #improvequality #hardwoods #team

Congratulations to team member Laura Rinehart on joining a select group of award winners in the Dale Carnegie Effective Communications & Human Relations program. Laura received the “Human Relations” award last week from her fellow class members. Her recognition for understanding social and interpersonal relations, especially how personalities, values, attitudes, perception and self-esteem impact people and organizations, reflects favorably on our entire TBM Hardwoods organization. We are very excited for her. Congratulations again, Laura! #teamwork #awardwinner #dalecarnegietraining #investinyourself #listenfirst #understandpeople #customerservice #askquestions

Excited and grateful to have been able to bring National Lumber Inspector Tom Byers from National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) to our operations in Hanover, PA this week for a deep dive into the detailed principles of hardwood grading and lumber inspection. The high caliber training was appreciated by those who oversee our inspection, kiln drying and order processing as it will empowered and equipped our teams with the tools and knowledge to control the quality of our hardwoods from the start. Thank you, Tom! #nhla #hardwoodgrading #hardwoods #quality #training #team #controlquality

Summer internships = a win-win? Finding talented candidates who possess a willingness to learn in exchange for mentoring and training during a time of year when many of us find ourselves on vacation might not sound easy or ideal, but at TBM we have found the experience to be beneficial and absolutely worthwhile -- for us as well as the intelligent, career focussed individuals we have had the pleasure of working with the past few summers. Take Maddie Spahr who interned in our marketing department this summer. Maddie is a graphic design major heading into her senior year at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA. She was a quick study of our industry, organization, mission, competitors, favorite customers, internal operations and all things hardwoods including species, sorting, milling, mouldings, priming and kiln drying. Maddie employed her marketing and design skills creating a social media calendar with measurable goals and executing aligned reels, posts and stories. She managed several projects associated with our rebranding that gave her great exposure working with local subcontractors and graphic art professionals. Maddie always had a smile and willingness to serve others and learn new things. We are thrilled she came through our doors. Thank you, Maddie for your help this summer and good luck this fall!

Controlling quality from the start and throughout the manufacturing process is paramount. However, how and when our material is delivered is equally important in this just-in-time world. At TBM Hardwoods, we prioritize every detail to ensure our hardwoods and custom mouldings arrive on time and in top condition. With our own fleet of trucks driven by expert professional drivers like Terry, who's been behind the wheel for TBM for over 30 years, we guarantee on time, pristine deliveries. Our curtain-sided trailers keep loads clean and dry, and extra packaging on sanded and primed material ensures hardwoods are ready for production upon arrival. A shout out to our drivers who deliver peace of mind with every load!

Sent two of our best to Memphis last week for NHLA short course in kiln drying — Laura Rinehart and Ron Husted. Kiln drying hardwoods might seem basic and straightforward, but it’s delicate process that requires knowledge and expertise. Laura said, “We learned many valuable lessons, including proper drying produces, the structure of wood and moisture, adequate maintenance of equipment, drying defects, proper drying produces, and so much more. My biggest takeaway is that the process of drying wood is both a science and an art.” TBM has been drying lumber since 1979, but practices change and evolve. To put people through the Short Course and have them bring back best practices learned from leading experts will fine tune our drying operations. Training and giving employees the tools to improve our products is paramount. Shout out to the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) for supporting members by offering valuable training. #kilndrying #kilndriedhardwoods #kdhardwoods #NHLA #bestpractices #training #investinteam #offsite #team #education #lumbersupplier #hardwoodsupplier #hanoverpa

Studying home style trend reports from earlier this year, we are happy to see predictions for flooring are spot on with the continued popularity of #hardwoods. Style trends are dictated by what homeowners think will make homes stand out and hold value down the road. Hardwoods and specifically #whiteoak continue to trend in 2024. Why? Because of White Oak’s beauty, durability, sustainability and customizability with many different width, finish and color options. Look closer at popular #whiteoakflooring choices and we find demand still growing for wide plank and rustic/ character grade. People want natural materials with beautiful earthy tones that are comfortable to walk, stand and crawl across — nothing beats beautiful hardwood flooring. We love White Oak too and carry many different grades White Oak: Livesawn Character, Select (FAS), Rift and Quartered. Most are available for wide plank widths of 8”, 10”, 12”. #livesawnflooring #whiteoakfloors #whiteoak #flooring #hardwoodflooring #charactergrade #wideplankflooring #homestyletrends
