Taking care of the future since 1925.
About us
The mission of The Denver Foundation is to inspire people and mobilize resources to strengthen our community. The Denver Foundation is the product of 90 years of generous donors, hard working volunteers, and visionary grantees. In November 1925, community leaders came together to create an endowment to serve the future needs of Metro Denver. They recognized that community needs are always changing, and they wanted to give succeeding generations some resources to help meet future needs. Today it manages assets of more than $800 million; received $ 67 million in gifts last year (2015 not audited); and holds more than 1000 funds to date.

Lauren Y. Casteel has made a profound impact throughout our community. We are so grateful for her leadership, passion, and dedication to gender, racial, and economic equity. Congratulations, and thank you for being a trailblazer and an inspiration to us all.
This #TrailblazerTuesday, we are excited to shine the spotlight on Lauren Y. Casteel, a trailblazer who will be retiring from her role as President and CEO of The Women's Foundation of Colorado in January. As the first woman of color to lead the foundation, Lauren has made a significant impact statewide with her strong commitment to gender, racial, and economic equity. She has an impressive track record, being the first person in Colorado to lead three foundations, and has nearly 30 years of leadership experience, demonstrating a lifelong dedication to inclusiveness. Lauren's remarkable journey includes leadership roles at the Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation, Hunt Alternatives Fund, and a successful 16-year tenure as president of The Denver Foundation.

PSA: 60 Years ago, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law. Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, a landmark piece of legislation that has played a crucial role in reducing discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. This Act has been vital in shaping a more just and equitable society, reinforcing the fundamental principles of democracy, then, now and in the future. While we celebrate the progress made, much work remains. Black Resilience in Colorado Fund (BRIC) will continue to push, addressing systemic racism and the inequities that continue to negatively impact Black communities in Colorado and beyond. We hope you will join effort, ensuring that the promise of equality and justice for all endures. #BlackResilience #CommunitySupport #Empowerment #SystemicChange #BlackLedOrganizations #Philanthropy #BRICFundCO #CivilRightsAct #CivilRights

David was 15 when he had to leave the child homeless shelter. With no place to go, he was referred to a nonprofit called Urban Peak. He was relieved he wouldn’t have to wake up each day worrying about his next meal or where he would sleep, but he had no idea the impact Urban Peak would have on his life for years to come. Read more about David's story, and how he found community and hope. We're proud to support Urban Peak and their work. https://lnkd.in/gcTWMrxv Pictured in photo: Christina Carlson, CEO of Urban Peak.
