Our first TEA Member AI Forum was held this week in our Jacksonville office. Clients from our Member organizations came together to explore cutting-edge AI initiatives designed to enhance efficiency and reliability within the #publicpower community. Attendees shared ways their utilities are currently incorporating #AI and their predictions on ways to utilize AI in the future. #TEA presenters spoke about Building an AI Sandbox as well as Data Security & AI. There was a lot of valuable discussion from every utility in attendance around ensuring their data is secure while benefitting from the efficiency AI has to offer. During afternoon breakout sessions, participants worked in small groups to brainstorm on key topics, including evaluating how their company’s AI aspirations align with what they learned throughout the day. They also explored the potential for leveraging AI across public power sectors in ways that will bring the most value. Thank you to all of our Members who joined us for this event - we look forward to more like this in the future. We kicked off our annual SPP User Group this year in Kansas City, MO, co-hosted by City Utilities of Springfield and Nebraska Public Power District. This event is a great opportunity for TEA's Members and Partners to come together to collaborate, discuss current market trends, and brainstorm solutions to our most pressing challenges. Last night, the group rooted for the home team at a Kansas City Royals baseball game where they had the opportunity to network before today’s meetings and presentations. Today's agenda has been jam-packed with #TEA speakers providing market updates on everything from Resource Planning and Demand Response to Renewable Assets and Data Centers & AI Loads. Then, Marie Kapels, Innovation Manager, and Alexander Lund, Market Operations Analyst at NPPD presented Unlocking Flexibility: The Role of Demand Response & Virtual Power Plants (VPPs). The two dove into the rapidly changing energy landscape and how Demand Response and VPPs are playing a crucial role in enhancing grid flexibility and meeting customer requirements. Marie and Alex shared how NPPD is increasing the use of Demand Response, addressing the fast-evolving needs of their customers, and developing strategies to stay competitive. We also had the pleasure of hearing from Casey Cathey, VP, Engineering at Southwest Power Pool as he shared an insider’s view on the latest developments at SPP, addressing transmission complexities, strategic initiatives, resource adequacy, and much more. We look forward to spending quality time with our SPP User Group attendees every year and we think it’s safe to say that this year was truly a home run. #SPP #PublicPower #EnergyTransition #EnergyIndustry
