On this #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we celebrate the strength, creativity, and resilience of Indigenous peoples across the country, while highlighting the youth of the Oglala Lakota Nation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Through Outlast, a project founded by LT (South Dakota '21), local students are learning to tell their stories through film and media. This film camp provides the next generation with the tools to reclaim their narratives and inspire change in their communities. At Teach For America, we stand with Indigenous peoples’ self-determination, advocating for education and student empowerment as essential pathways to a renewed community and culture. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #LakotaYouth #OutlastFilmCamp #TeachForAmerica Photo credit: Outlast Arts and Education

Teach For America CEO Elisa Villanueva Beard visited our beautiful Bay Area communities this week, and we had incredible conversations with alumni, partners, and community leaders. We reckoned with the many challenges we are up against; we lifted up great work being done by our educators, school partners, & alumni; and we declared our hopes for the future. A highlight this week was celebrating the LAUNCH OF OUR IGNITE TUTORING PROGRAM IN SAN JOSE!!! It was a privilege to stand alongside our district, city, and county partners, whose unwavering support and partnership were instrumental in launching TFA's virtual tutoring program Ignite in two San Jose schools this year. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Superintendent Juan Cruz from Franklin-McKinley School District, TFA alum and Mayor Matt Mahan of City of San José, and County of Santa Clara Supervisor Sylvia Arenas for your innovative and impactful leadership and your dedication to and investment in students! And mil gracias to my incredible colleague Lorena Chavez for bringing us all together to make this a reality for our children of San Jose! More to come on this energizing week! #partnership #collectiveimpact #gratitude #tfa #tfabayarea #fortodayfortomorrowforoneday

Recently, Hoda Kotb announced she’ll be stepping back from her role co-hosting The Today Show at the end of this year. During a recent episode, the show highlighted her incredible career, including her 2006 Dateline package featuring Teach For America corps member Monica Groves. This yearlong look inside the classroom earned Hoda a Peabody Award and was later turned into a documentary, shining a spotlight on the experience of teachers, and the power of education. We thank Hoda for her years of impact, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter! #TheTodayShow #TeachForAmerica

Tomorrow is World Teacher Day! This is an opportunity to celebrate incredible teachers, and to recognize we have to do more to support them. In this article, I'm sharing three ways we can modernize the teaching profession so that great teachers stay in the work, and more members of Gen Z are able to say ‘yes’ to careers in education. What would you add to this list? #ForTodayForTomorrowForOneDay #ImagineWhatWeCanDoTogether Teach For America Coalition to Reimagine the Teaching Role

I had a great time celebrating the incredible achievements of Aneesh Sohoni last night, winner of the prestigious 2024 Peter Jennings Award for Civic Leadership! I am proud to call Aneesh a friend, mentor, and partner in breaking down barriers to an excellent education and creating pathways for every student. I am inspired by his dedication to being a part of the coalition transforming community college opportunities at One Million Degrees and his leadership in shaping a brighter future for thousands of students in Chicago and beyond. Aneesh reminded us all of the power of community and that doing hard things requires having the right people around you. None of us get to where we are alone just as change will not happen with one organization or one leader. We need each other. Thank you for your impact and the leadership you display in how you do the work. Congrats Aneesh! #fortodayfortomorrowforoneday Teach For America Elisa Villanueva Beard

35 years ago, Teach For America was born with a vision that one day all children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. Over the past 3 ½ decades, TFA has been growing and evolving, finding, developing, and supporting leaders to transform education and expand opportunity by working together inside and outside the classroom. Our teacher corps continues to grow, placing exceptional leaders in high-need classrooms across the country, driving impact, and building strong relationships with students and families. As our world has grown more complex, we have risen to the challenge through our Ignite Fellowship, which brings young tutoring fellows and leaders into schools, fostering connections and accelerating learning. Together, we’re building a future of endless possibilities—for ourselves, for our future, and for every child. Join us. For Today. For Tomorrow. For One Day. #TeachForAmerica #ForOneDay
