Call it whatever you want… Objective or Outcome. They both begin with O and get us to the same place – student achievement! An effective teacher writes lesson plans for a daily schedule to be included in a weekly plan. A lesson plan objective needs to precisely answer the question: What will the student be able to do at the end of the lesson? In the course, Becoming a More Effective Teacher, the guts of an objective are broken down into three parts: - The student will be able to… - Action verb - Outcome This simple way of deconstructing an objective for teachers has benefits such as: - The objective focuses on student behavior, not teacher behavior - The objective requires physical actions that can be measured - The objective states what can be observed by the teacher. Engage with us. Tell us how you create your lesson objectives in the comment section below. Join the journey to learn how to improve classroom instruction! In today’s classrooms, one size does not fit all. Every student comes with unique strengths, challenges, and ways of learning. So how do we ensure that each child thrives? The answer lies in Differentiated Instruction. In our latest blog post, “It Is Possible!”We explore practical strategies for teachers to tailor their instruction to meet the diverse needs of their students. Differentiation isn’t just a teaching method—it’s a mindset that every learner is capable of success when given the right opportunities and support. Check out this great resource by our partner Flavia Nakajjugo Kizito: https://lnkd.in/d2_4iY4u Let us know what you think and feel free to share your own experiences with differentiated instruction in the comments below. Lesson plans come in all shapes and sizes! But no matter the desired template or required form, educators can agree on one thing – effective teachers write lesson plans in advance of the lesson! In the online course, Becoming an Effective Teacher, we discuss how a weekly plan contains daily schedules with lesson plans. To plan a school day, an effective teacher writes a daily schedule with lesson plans. 📌A lesson plan, in its simplest form contains four parts: - A well written objective (remember not to get caught up in the terminology!) that states what the student will be able to do at the end of the lesson - A list of materials that will be needed for the lesson - Instructions to guide the teacher through the plan, different from mastery of the content itself - Self-reflection of the lesson plan after it has been presented to the students. 📌What are the benefits of writing a lesson plan? →Lesson plans guide a teacher through the gradual release of responsibility. →Lesson plans can be adjusted, saved, and used again. →Lesson plans can be shared with colleagues and school leaders. 📌Let us know what you think. Feel free to share your own experiences with lesson planning in the comments below. #lessonplanning #teachertraining #educators #TTT
The image of an intimidating school leader in the back of a classroom with a clipboard is what comes to mind for a typical classroom observation. At TTT ,we offer a different take on observations. In our course, Becoming a More Effective School Leader, we provide a tool that is easily understood and accessible for school leaders to build a community of collaboration. In this, school leaders are crucial to the reporting and follow through. However, they are no longer a looming presence in the back of the room, negatively affecting the learning environment. Do you know school leaders that need resources and tools to become more effective? Today we share a video on Clint Pulver’s story that tells of the incredible impact one teacher can have. Clint is a world-renowned drummer and speaker. But it all started with a teacher who didn’t just see him for who he was at the time—a restless kid who couldn’t sit still—but for who he could become. It’s a powerful reminder for all of us in education: We’re not just teaching students for today. We’re shaping their futures, sometimes in ways we may never fully see. Let’s all strive to be that teacher—the one who sees beyond the present, who looks past the struggles and challenges, and instead focuses on the greatness each student holds within them. You never know where that one act of belief could take them. #educators #inspiration #teachers
Ever heard of a morning message? A morning message is an excellent routine! When a teacher writes a message on the chalkboard or whiteboard at the beginning of the school day, the student benefits are rich: → A morning message provides a predictable, friendly start to the day. → A morning message encourages Students to be responsible to complete the morning message. → A morning message gives daily practice in reading and reinforces academic skills. → For new readers, messages with simple words build confidence. → For more skilled readers, messages offer practice in reading more complex words and sentence Morning messages can include things like the date, a variety of punctuation, and correct sentence structure. Do you use a message to begin the day or your class? What do you incorporate into the messages? We know that the phrase” learning styles” has been put on the shelf in the education community. We agree that it is not wise to tell a student that he has a visual learning style for fear that the student may think he ONLY has a visual learning style. But effective teachers know that students benefit from learning and showing what they have learned with their eyes, ears and bodies . … oh wait! Does that remind you of UDL (Universal Design for Learning)? And guess what? Word on the street is that UDL will soon be put on the shelf too because there’s new terminology on the horizon! Fear not, fellow educators! You will be wise to know that solid educational pedagogy gets recycled with new terms and catchy phrases. Refined yes, but the fact remains, we learn when we see, hear, and interact with content. TTT courses are designed with this in mind. No matter the current terminology – know that we seek to provide you, our dearest learners, with engaging content as your brain takes it all in. TTT online courses provide supplemental resources. For example, each course includes content to print for reference so one can capture thoughts and notes in the margins of actual paper as well as supplements portions of the content with audio files so that learners can learn with their eyes and their ears – making the courses a multimodal experience. Yes, these are simple resources that most online platforms use but we just wanted you to know that we incorporate them for a reason – We believe in you and your God-given ability to learn! Check out one of our two courses to see it for yourself! https://lnkd.in/dnmgTDnG #teachingtrainingtogether #teachers #educators #teachertraining #professionalteacherdevelopment
‘Pedagogy must be oriented not to the yesterday, but to the tomorrow of the child's development.Only then can it call to life in the process of education those processes of development which now lie in the zone of proximal development.’ Today we reflect on Lev Vygotsky’s quote which reminds us that 'Pedagogy must be oriented not to the yesterday, but to the tomorrow of the child's development.' This powerful quote resonates deeply as educators. Our classrooms shouldn't be museums of memorized facts, but launchpads for future potential. " "The key lies in the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) - that sweet spot where learners can achieve just beyond their grasp with our support. "What are some ways you're nurturing the ZPD in your classroom?
