Don't miss out on this rare opportunity, which won't return until 2038. Join us in making history – endorse Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic's recommendation to add "Teaching Artist" to the Department of Labor Bureau of Statistics’s Standardized Occupational Classification System (SOC). A SOC code requires the Department of Labor to gather, calculate, and share data about wages, employment, projections, and more. Other federal agencies like the NEA get involved, too. Data drives research that shapes funding and policy decisions. Obtaining a specific occupational code only arises once every 10-15 years. Let's ensure that Teaching Artists are not overlooked for another decade. Every signature counts, and we aim to gather hundreds and secure representation from each state by Monday morning. Please share this initiative with your TA colleagues and encourage them to sign. This Olympic season - let's go for a SOC CODE! Submit your endorsement by Monday, August 12, at 7AM. https://lnkd.in/e_-B27YR Huge thanks to Quanice G. Floyd, M.M., M.A. Floyd and the National Guild for Community Arts Education for bringing this opportunity to our attention and supporting our journey to get a SOC code!

A home for Teaching Artists, TAMA seeds networks in the mid-Atlantic region, encouraging communication & collaboration.
About us
TAMA is the organization that is BY, FOR and ABOUT Teaching Artists. Because Teaching Artists promote creativity, learning, collaboration and personal growth for people of all ages and backgrounds in multiple sectors - schools, community development, healthcare, military, business, and beyond; and, awaken and fortify creative instincts, engage curiosity and help people approach challenges with the full capacity of their human being, TAMA exists to: (1) promote a greater awareness of and advocate for what teaching artists do and how they do it. (2) empower TAs with a growing network of experience, research and communication. (3) support TAs in the challenges they face as they develop in this growing field. If you work in the mid-Atlantic TA movement, you have stories to tell about the power of teaching artistry in action. You have experienced obstacles that turn up because teaching artistry is still evolving as a discipline and not established in the general mindset. Teaching artists who reside in the mid-Atlantic are invited to join our TAMA directory and online community, and growing network! Imagine the dynamic synergistic impact for Teaching Artists like yourself, and the opportunity to embed and dig deep into the hearts of the community where we live. Together, TAMA members have the potential and capacity to do great things as we reach state, regional and national platforms. In local Meet-Up networks, individual Teaching Artists may enjoy the greatest professional inspiration AND expand their opportunities to make a rich and meaningful impact in their local community. Networks bring all of these phenomenal artistic humans – their backgrounds, disciplines, skills, habits, curiosities, experiences, challenges, obstacles, awareness – together. Your voice and commitment shape our future. Together we are stronger, braver and wiser!

The Board has begun to act on her recommendations and is preparing for the next steps in our continued partnership with her. TAMA is the collective work of Professional Teaching Artists who live and work in the mid-Altantic. Let's go mid-Atlantic Teaching Artists! #TeachingArtists #MidAtlanticTeachingArtists #ProfessionalArtists #TAsWithPrinciples
