Do people in your teams suffer from #Role #Overload? If yes, what are you doing about it? If no, are you really sure? Try Teamperature by Team Topologies to find out!
#Role #Load was the #3 cognitive load driver for Q3 2024 based on Teamperature by Team Topologies... so what does this mean? Role (over)load is caused by constant pressure, lack of slack, and an overall feeling that there's just too much to do for a specific role. This leads to feelings of stress, anxiety and mental strain, all of which increase #cognitiveload levels. To know if your company's top #team #cognitiveload matches this or any of the top 3, go to teamperature.com #TeamCognitiveLoad #AI

The Operability.io conferences were truly inspirational, with a roster of amazing speakers. In the context of GenAI codegen, it's worth revisiting what actually makes software systems work well. #operability
📽 32 videos on all things socio-technical dev & ops finally recovered and republished 😍 The YouTube videos of Operability.IO 2015 and 2016 got deleted last year due to a snafu but I finally managed to recover them 😅 👉 2015 https://lnkd.in/dPgcP4S6 👉 2016 https://lnkd.in/dv_bgd6K 🙇♂️ Apologies to all the great people who dedicated their time and energy to deliver them back then: of all the conferences and events I organised across Europe in the last 20+ years this was my favourite one and because of its socio-techincal focus most of the content is still very actual. 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Projects face numerous challenges, such as dealing with legacy systems that are difficult to adapt or scale, misaligned teams that work in silos without cohesive goals, and the accumulation of technical debt from years of quick fixes and outdated technology choices. Managing the complexity of transformations, specially large-scale software, requires both organizational and architectural transformation. Organizational structures help teams work together by making sure everyone is clear on their roles, and how things should get done, making collaboration between departments easier. 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 is about organizing teams in a way that improves workflow, minimizes mental strain, and encourages clear communication. It defines different types of teams and how they interact to help deliver value more efficiently. Combining 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 and 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 is important for successful software projects because it brings together both technical and organizational approaches. 👉 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒍𝒆: https://lnkd.in/d5zHaCpv 💡 This article is heavily inspired by the works of Matthew Skelton and Manuel Pais (Team Topologies) 🇺🇦 🇵🇸 , Team Topologies . "I had the opportunity to coach some organizations. We changed small things at the time, so not very dramatical. But, I mostly liked the effect of inspiration of self selecting teams so that teams could organize their way of working and their topology." - Joris Swinnen - Team Topologies Advocate

Why do so many companies struggle to adopt modern software development practices? Often, it's because their team structures don’t align with the practices they’re aiming to implement. The term “knowledge work” was first coined in 1959 by Peter Drucker in his book “The Landmarks of Tomorrow”. Drucker described the transformation of society to a post-industrial state, with a shift from manual to non-manual work. The ‘effort’ of work was reshaped from mostly human motor skills to one of mostly mental cognition. The latest blog post from the VSRA-Community examines how we can reason about the effort of knowledge work by using Team Topologies and close examination of the interactions that exist between teams in what we call the “cognitive slope”. https://lnkd.in/ePvFW6XR #vsra #teamtoplogies #vsm #cognitiveslope
