This #TEAMERTuesday, we're excited to introduce one of our newest facility network members, Kelson Marine Co., out of Portland, Maine. Kelson brings decades of experience in #WaveEnergy and #TidalEnergy, and a suite of state-of-the-art modeling and analysis tools. This #TEAMERTuesday, we invite all #MarineEnergy technology developers and researchers to apply for TEAMER's 15th Request for Technical Support. Facilities offering numerical modeling, expertise, laboratory & bench testing, tank/basin/tunnel/flume testing, and open water support capabilities are available to partner with you on an application. TEAMER RFTS rounds are offered three times per year, so now is the perfect time to start your #RFTS15 application! Our reviewer pool has been activated and is getting to work on the reviews, which is a highly technical process that takes some time to do right. TEAMER's Samantha Quinn and Devan Kochersperger are at #ICOE2024 in Melbourne this week! (If you're there, say hello—and feel free to ask any questions you have about the program 🤚) While there, Samantha gave a presentation about the ways the TEAMER program contributes to knowledge sharing and transfer in #MarineEnergy. You probably already know that TEAMER provides support for marine energy testing and research at a broad network of specialized facilities across the U.S. What you might not know, though, is that a prerequisite for a recipient accepting support is committing to generate a Post-Access Report once the research is complete. That report includes research results and takeaways to share with the broader marine energy community, so that future work in the industry can benefit from past findings. These reports can be found on both the TEAMER website and the Marine and Hydrokinetic Data Repository #MHKDR. This #TEAMERTuesday we're sharing some research being conducted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on behalf of support recipient MarineSitu to test novel marine energy monitoring tools developed through the DOE Small Business Innovation Research program. During the demonstration in Sequim Bay, Washington, PNNL deployed the instrumentation suite including two optical camera systems, an imaging sonar, and an instrument integration hub. These instruments have been developed by MarineSitu specifically for monitoring #MarineEnergy systems and to reduce the costs associated with this type of underwater monitoring. In addition to deploying the instruments, PNNL staff are evaluating the data acquisition software provided by MarineSitu which uses AI-enabled object detection to classify targets in the instrument fields of view, and evaluating the ease of integrating their own data analytics and visualization with MarineSitu’s system.
