This #TEAMERTuesday we're sharing some research being conducted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on behalf of support recipient MarineSitu to test novel marine energy monitoring tools developed through the DOE Small Business Innovation Research program. During the demonstration in Sequim Bay, Washington, PNNL deployed the instrumentation suite including two optical camera systems, an imaging sonar, and an instrument integration hub. These instruments have been developed by MarineSitu specifically for monitoring #MarineEnergy systems and to reduce the costs associated with this type of underwater monitoring. In addition to deploying the instruments, PNNL staff are evaluating the data acquisition software provided by MarineSitu which uses AI-enabled object detection to classify targets in the instrument fields of view, and evaluating the ease of integrating their own data analytics and visualization with MarineSitu’s system. For more information on our Open Water testing and support capabilities, check out the TEAMER website here: https://lnkd.in/ghxpeSyr As a reminder, #RFTS14 applications are being accepted through October 4, 2024, and Open Water support applications are accepted and reviewed on receipt. This #TEAMERTuesday, we are pleased to announce the newest addition to the TEAMER program in the Expertise category, Lloyd's Register North America, Inc. LR will provide support services to marine energy (ME) technology developers and test laboratories concerning the practice of IEC standards and their application within the #IECRE international conformity assessment system. Lloyd's Register has a long-standing reputation for integrity, impartiality, and technical excellence. Traditional services such as Classification, Product Verification and Third-party certification offer clients confidence to operate their capital-intensive assets and businesses with the highest levels of safety and performance. Specifically, with respect to standards related to the assessment of ME technologies, LR provided leadership in publishing the world’s first IECRE operational document that offers an assessment framework for the certification of marine energy converters. In 2021, LR became the world’s first IECRE ME renewable energy certification body (RECB), presently making it the only one that has a scope in Wind and Marine energy. Winston D'Souza, Global Technical Authority for Offshore Renewables at LR said: “The opportunity of having an IECRE RECB on the TEAMER program offers technology developers and test laboratories a focal point to answer their queries concerning the application of marine energy standards for an IECRE certification. As a trusted advisor, LR is delighted to provide the necessary support to enable these technologies meet IECRE certification requirements.” As an IECRE RECB, Lloyd’s Register has issued IECRE Feasibility Statements for ME technologies to Flex Marine Power Ltd and Quoceant Ltd. In the US, LR is now working with multiple technology developers seeking assessment services enroute to an IECRE certification. To learn more about LR and how they can help your #MarineEnergy technology development—including standards and certification expertise—check out their page on the TEAMER website here: https://lnkd.in/gJ_5ghiG

On this #TEAMERTuesday, we are happy to announce the addition of TEAMER's newest Open Water Testing Facility, Bourne Tidal Test Site, operated by Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative of New England. Located in the Cape Cod Canal with waters 7 meters deep, the soon to be grid-connected testing platform is fully permitted and will allow for open-water testing of prototype tidal devices of up to 3 meters for efficiency, durability, energy generation potential, and potential environmental effects. As a bonus, power generated during these tests can be sent straight to the grid through nearby substations. Typically, open water testing is one of the last stages of device testing before full scale deployment. If your marine energy device is ready for open water testing, learn more or contact Bourne Tidal Test Site through its TEAMER facility page: https://lnkd.in/g8DhMStg As a reminder, #RFTS13 applications are due on Friday, June 28, 2024. If you won't be ready, no worries—there will be more RFTS rounds announced in the near future through TEAMER. Stay tuned! Images courtesy of Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative of New England
