A makerspace, manufacturing incubator, STEAM education center and creative community in Troy, NY
About us
Tech Valley Center of Gravity is a makerspace, manufacturing incubator, STEAM education center, and creative community located in the heart of downtown Troy, NY. The Center of Gravity (CoG) provides affordable access to workspace, manufacturing equipment, and training focused on practical skills and hands-on experience. Membership is open to startups and hobbyists alike. The only requirement is a passion to create! Our makerspace boasts over 10,000 square feet and $180,000 of fabrication equipment. We've organized them into technology zones: 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Fiber Arts & Glass, Electronics, Model Shop, Welding, Wood Shop and Metal Shop. Our Coworking Zone provides open desk space, printers, a meeting room, and the 70 seat flexible use SEFCU Community Room. The Prototyping Center zone is designed to accomodate small batch manufacturing. It includes higher-end digital fabrication equipment as well as space for storage and assembly cells. This equipment is a great resource for existing businesses who can't procure their own, but would benefit from having access. Our Manufacturing Incubator program is a NYS-certified 16V business incubator providing coaching and risk mitigation for start-ups seeking industry expertise to bring their physical product to market and create a revenue generating business. Our program is independent, open to the public, and an approved Innovate 518 Partner, providing access to the affiliated programs and services of the region's NYS Hot Spot. The ThinQubator zone is our children’s makerspace, wherein we empower kids and families to think, tinker, collaborate, skill-build, design and make. ThinQubator is home to STEAM-Powered Saturdays, our free every-1st-Saturday drop-in program that invites children ages 4-12 and their families to join us for a fun STEAM-related facilitated project. It is also available for field trips and educational institutions. For more information, contact us at info@tvcog.net or 518-244-3544.
