Innovations for Inclusive Growth: Bridging Science & Societal Impact Technology drives change when it meets real needs and is embraced by communities. For 40 years, Development Alternatives Group (DA) has championed solutions that uplift marginalized communities while protecting the environment. As part of the ‘Socio-Economic Impact Assessment of S&T Outcomes’ programme by CSIR-HRDC and DST, Govt. of India, DA Group hosted a workshop on February 13, 2025, bringing together 13 scientists to explore inclusive innovations in water, energy, and building materials. Discussions highlighted the role of civil society in reducing inequalities and how green technologies create sustainable livelihoods. Collaboration between science, policy, and grassroots action is key to maximizing the impact of public-funded research. An in-house Training and Capacity Building Workshop was held yesterday at the DA Headquarters, focusing on case studies and databases to adopt a nuanced approach to addressing challenges in DA’s thematic areas. These efforts align with DA’s vision and contribute to the NDCs (Nationally Determined Contribution). Subject Matter Experts, Harsha Upadhyaya from Imperium Edutech, conducted a session on ‘Transitioning from Programme to Product,’ while Professor Bappaditya Makhopadhyay from GLIM emphasised the role of data in scientifically interpreting outcomes and impact analysis. By integrating scientific rigor with a systems approach, DA’s Training and Capacity Building initiative aims to bridge the societal aspirational gap. This workshop was another step in that direction. #CapacityBuilding #SustainableSolutions #SystemApproach #ImpactAnalysis Harsha Upadhyaya, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Brig Yogesh Kapoor, VSM (Retd), Jyoti Sharma, Anamoy Ranjan, Colonel Raman Thapar
