🚀 Check out this cheatsheet and PyTorch recipes (URL below) on quantization and precision tuning for optimized inference made by Ethan Henley! We're leveraging these techniques to significantly accelerate model inference and unlock deployments on resource-constrained devices. 🚀 Here's how: 🤖 Post-Training Quantization (PTQ): By implementing INT8 quantization on pre-trained models without retraining, we're able to reduce model size and speed up inference. We're achieving great results by focusing on per-channel quantization for weights and per-tensor quantization for activations, while carefully fine-tuning batch normalization statistics to preserve accuracy. 🤖 Quantization-Aware Fine-Tuning (QAF): To further enhance performance, we're using QAF, which simulates quantization during the fine-tuning process. This allows us to achieve a higher level of accuracy by gradually introducing quantization noise and focusing fine-tuning efforts on the most impactful layers. 🤖 Mixed Precision: To balance speed and accuracy, we're strategically using FP16 or BFloat16 (Brain Float) for most operations, while using FP32 for sensitive operations, like master weights and optimizer states. This enables faster training without compromising stability. 🤖 Dynamic Quantization: This technique is particularly powerful for NLP models, allowing us to quantize weights offline while keeping embeddings in higher precision for accuracy. By dynamically quantizing activations during inference, we can efficiently handle varying sequence lengths, which is crucial for NLP tasks. 🚀 These are just a few of the ways we're using quantization and precision tuning to push the boundaries of model efficiency. The ability to deploy powerful models on resource-constrained devices opens up a world of possibilities for edge computing and AI applications!
