Exciting News from Tech San Diego's Jacobs Talent Initiative! We just launched a new program series called 'Hire Edge,' designed to help students make a smoother transition into the private sector. This initiative is all about giving students the tools they need to thrive in their careers and stay right here in San Diego! A huge thank you to Erona Liku, Co- Chair of Tech San Diego's HR Roundtable and HR leader at Nextivity, for spearheading this program. Erona's dedication and leadership are making a real impact in our community by empowering the next generation of talent. The first meeting was a great success, and we’re excited to see the positive effects this program will have in preparing students to join and grow within our vibrant regional innovation economy. Of course thanks always to our rockstar JTI director Christy Nierva Quiogue Let's keep San Diego's talent pipeline strong! #TechSanDiego #JacobsTalentInitiative #HireEdge #SanDiegoTalent #Nextivity #FutureLeaders #STEM #SanDiegoJobs #ThankYou

It was an honor getting to personally meet one of my engineering heroes, Dr. Irwin Jacobs. He has generously supported the Jacobs Talent Initiative (JTI), a Tech San Diego partnership with the regional innovation community, the local universities and community colleges. During my time in JTI as a student, I was in the inaugural cohort of the Ready to Work (RTW) program, where STEM college students engage directly with industry professionals, acquire essential workplace skills, and develop a solid network of connections to transition seamlessly from academia to the workplace. While coursework drilled into me the hard skills, many of the soft skills I gained were from the career readiness opportunities offered by JTI and RTW. However, this would not have been possible without Dr. Jacobs’ involvement and inspiration. It was surreal being able to talk to Dr. Jacobs directly about my engineering experiences and how JTI has very much prepared me for the challenges that lie beyond graduation. Even though he is someone who has drastically changed the world, Dr. Jacobs was engaging, approachable, and humble. We appreciate everything he has done for us students and the local San Diego community! Also, huge thanks to Kevin Carroll and Christy Nierva Quiogue for always creating unique experiences like this for me and my RTW peers! #readytowork
