The inaugural TED Democracy Fireside Chat, organized by Visit Philadelphia and TED Conferences, took place last night at the National Constitution Center. Moderated by author and veteran TED speaker A.J. Jacobs the event featured a free, open-to-the-public conversation with NPR president and CEO Katherine Maher and Emmy-nominated producer, writer and public speaker Baratunde Thurston about democracy’s past, present and future in the United States. This is the first of three such Fireside Chats to take place in Philadelphia throughout 2024, setting the stage for a larger series of high-profile events exploring democracy as we approach the nation's 250th birthday in 2026.
