Iron sharpens Iron I’ve heard this expression before. Coming from the military, the idea of doing hard things to become stronger in preparation for war was a common theme. Pushing each other farther! Yesterday, I participated in a mentorship discussion at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Charlotte Kovanda used this line. She stated, “We would say this to each other before providing strong/sharp feedback to each other.” This is to say, hey I’m providing you some real feedback because I care about your development. I’m not here to attack but to help. I love this. Call me old school, but we live in a world where everyone wants to be coddled and told they are doing great. 👴 People feel professionally attacked if you you are Blunt and Real with them. “Hey, that wasn’t good” or “You didn’t handle that right” or “You really need to do better next time” are thing you need to be able to hear.👂 Who are YOU Sharpening?
