TerraPower's CFO and Executive Vice President Marcia Burkey spoke at the Bloomberg NEF conference. During her Executive Dialogue: Nuclear Energy, she discussed how TerraPower is at the forefront of the effort to reach our climate goals, with innovations like the Natrium® reactor and advanced energy storage system.
About us
TerraPower is a nuclear energy technology company based in beautiful Bellevue, Washington. We work to raise global living standards by creating new forms of energy. TerraPower aspires to develop scalable, sustainable, low-carbon and cost-competitive energy sources that will allow all nations to quicken their pace of economic development and reduce poverty. This mission-driven innovation distinguishes our efforts from other endeavors. Since 2008, TerraPower has been bringing together the strengths and experiences of the world’s public- and private nuclear energy sectors. With deep technical knowledge and commercial experience, our centerpiece technology is an advanced nuclear technology called the traveling wave reactor (TWR). TerraPower’s unique approach greatly simplifies the nuclear energy supply chain and significantly mitigates many shortcomings of today’s standard nuclear energy technologies. We’re a growing company and we continue to add talent from a variety of fields. TerraPower seeks to hire highly motivated and forward-thinking professionals interested in advanced nuclear energy research and development, and influencing change within the nuclear power landscape. We are an equal opportunity employer. However, TerraPower’s technology is controlled for export by various agencies of the U.S. Government. TerraPower must evaluate applicants who are foreign nationals (other than asylees, refugees, or lawful permanent residents) in accordance with U.S. Government export control requirements. To facilitate TerraPower’s export control reviews, you will be asked as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or national, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident of the United States. Government export authorization approval times vary. Based on the business needs for a particular position, TerraPower may not consider a foreign national from a country if it is impracticable to obtain timely Government export approval.

TerraPower has always been blessed with a founder and chairman who believes in our mission to his core. This year, we had two opportunities to celebrate major TerraPower milestones with him. The first was this summer at the Natrium® site to celebrate the project’s groundbreaking. And the second was this fall when he joined us at our Everett laboratory for an All-Hands meeting where we were able to announce that TerraPower Isotopes’ actinium-225 is now being used in human clinical trials. Bill Gates' continued passion and support provides TerraPower with the ability to develop advanced #NuclearEnergy to meet growing electricity needs, mitigate climate change and drive medical advances for human health applications.

TerraPower reposted this
When I founded TerraPower in 2006 I was excited about its potential to change the trajectory of nuclear energy. What I didn't know then was how the company could also play a role in fighting cancer. Today, TerraPower announced that it is producing Actinium-225, a radioactive isotope that can make cancer treatments hyper targeted, at a commercial scale. This technology has the potential to revolutionize how we respond to cancer and improve the lives of patients undergoing treatment. I was fortunate to visit their lab last month to learn more about the exciting work going on: https://b-gat.es/3Y8SS8Z
