What a joy to spend time with the NYC Tessitura Community last night! 🍎 Close to 100 folks joined the happy hour hosted by the New York Philharmonic in the lobby of their stunning David Geffen Hall. Huge thanks to the Phil, along with our three volunteer co-chairs Jamie O'Brien with New 42, Corri Oster, with Manhattan Theatre Club and Michael De Froda with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts The NYC community is one of the oldest and most venerable Tessitura user groups, and it is always a kick to spend time with them ⭐️ #community #artsandculture

Congratulations #SavonlinnaOperaFestival and @villematvejeff Savonlinna was chosen the best #operafestival of the year in the #internationaloperaawards in Munich. But. There were two very happy - see the picture - Finnish winners on Wednesday night. The Finnish National Opera and Ballet #FNOB won the price in the category of sustainability. So much more to be done but this recognition really motivates to keep up with the good work. #vastuulisuus

Honored that the National Endowment for the Arts invited me to contribute an article reflecting on their Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA). Every five years, the NEA, in collaboration with the US Census Bureau, surveys Americans about how the arts intersect with their lives. Now 40 years on, the SPPA can be a sobering longitudinal reminder of the decline in national arts participation. My article posits how we might reverse these declines by learning from organizations that are busting those downward trends. Top Takeaways: 💡 Look past the discouraging statistics: There are some glimmers of hope within the SPPA 💡 Be intentional about who you serve and why - starting with a strong mission 💡 Go Broad: Consider a "go broad" approach, where you define your product narrowly and your reach broadly, like the Detroit Symphony Orchestra with their mission to "serve a global audience" through their webcasts 💡 Or, Go Deep: Consider a "go deep" approach, where you define your product broadly and your reach narrowly, like Ballet Austin with a mission to "involve and strengthen our community" through a diverse array of dance-related activities focused on their Austin neighbors. With thanks to Tessitura community members the DSO and Ballet Austin, as well as Irish Arts Center and Dallas Black Dance Theatre, for providing trend-busting inspiration for this article! #artsresearch #artsandculture https://lnkd.in/gMetag26

We had such a great time at the Atlanta community meetup in September. The group discussed their #tlcc2024 takeaways and took part in some prize drawings. A massive thank you to Community Chairs Christina and Kati Grace for planning such a wonderful gathering and to The Atlanta Shakespeare Company for hosting. Looking forward to next week’s #LiveInTheCulture meetup at Dracula: The Failings of Men! 🎭

San Francisco’s historic California Academy of Sciences houses an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest and natural history museum under one roof. As the organization grew over the years, so did the need to harness its visitor data. That’s why the Academy moved from several separate business systems to Tessitura in 2019. Since then, the team has used it to manage ticketing, fundraising and memberships. “Tessitura is at the center of our business. It is the connective tissue.” 🔗 Read the story: https://lnkd.in/g7BYV22F
