  • It’s #NationalPoliceWomanDay, and we hope you’ll join us in recognizing the women of DPS for their commitment to duty and service to the department and their communities. For a fun #throwback on this National Police Woman Day, we’re looking back at this year’s Inspiring Women Leaders Conference, where female leaders from across DPS came together to enrich, motivate and inspire each other. It was truly a wonderful week, full of empowering female leaders in law enforcement.

  • DPS was proud to work alongside our law enforcement partners with U.S. Marshals Service to locate and apprehend an escaped inmate earlier this week. Escaped inmate Jesus Villarreal was serving a 63-year sentence for multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon when he fled from a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) unit in Huntsville, Texas. Thanks to the quick response of law enforcement, Villarreal was taken into custody on Sunday, Sept. 8, without incident. The joint operation to locate and apprehend this inmate involved the U.S. Marshals Service, TDCJ, Texas DPS, Nueces County Sheriff's Office, Corpus Christi PD, Robstown PD and the San Antonio PD. #ProtectAndServe More at https://bit.ly/3AUR89Z.

  • Thanks to the work of a DPS Trooper nearly two pounds of suspected fentanyl ― which equates to more than 453,000 lethal doses ― along with 16+ pounds of suspected cocaine are off the streets. This seizure comes following a traffic stop in Carson Co., during which our Trooper discovered multiple plastic-wrapped blocks of cocaine and one plastic-wrapped bag of fentanyl in the vehicle. The drugs were reportedly being transported from California to Virginia. The driver was arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance.
