The “Carbon and Hydrogen Innovation & Learning Incubator” (CHILI) is live and heating up the innovation ecosystem in Texas with a first-of-a-kind comprehensive hardware startup ecosystem incubator. As the President of Texas Innovates Board of Directors, I am proud to announce that the DOE Office of Technology Transitions selected our non-profit organization to focus on hydrogen and carbon innovation and expansion in the greater Houston and Gulf Coast region. We are one of 23 phase 1 winners of the Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) Round 3 competition and the only Texas entity. The CHILI will harness regional academic resources, including the University of Houston and Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, and align startups with our corporate partners and their lab facilities, venture capital like Climate Impact Capital, and large-scale efforts like the HyVelocity Hub.
