Their Future Is Our Business

About us

The mission of TNOYS is to strengthen, support, and protect critical services for youth and families in Texas. We are a statewide network of members who share a vision of Texas where all young people are valued, their strengths are recognized, and they have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives. Our work is guided by a unique and comprehensive systems change approach focused on policy, practice, and participation. We advocate at the state, local, and organizational levels for policies and programs that benefit young people who are struggling and their families. Our training and program development services ensure those in the field are fully equipped to meet the complex needs in their communities. We work in partnership with youth to develop young leaders and demonstrates what youth are capable of when people invest in them.

CEO helping other mission-driven leaders accelerate leadership, impact and revenue growth. We bring you through the fire to help you grow holistically with intention.

I had the great pleasure of recently attending and speaking at the Texas Network of Youth Services (@TNOYS) annual conference in Houston, TX. TNOYS started 40 years ago as a grass roots gathering of community-based organizations across the state of Texas because they could see so many systems failing young people in the state and they needed strength in numbers. Numbers would…. Get the Texas legislature to see the epidemic of homeless youth who:  - were being thrown out of their parents’ homes because they were gay or gender non-conforming,  - ‘aged out’ of a foster care system that never met their needs - were running away from abusive or neglectful situations - were stuck in commercial sex trafficking rings - were coming out of juvenile detention with nowhere to go The work happening in Texas as a result of TNOYS decades of advocacy and organizing is very powerful.   This is what I saw: - Deep networking across hundreds of youth serving organizations learning best practices from one another.  - How the power of consistent advocacy for many years can create a supportive ecosystem that changes the trajectory of lives. - Empowered youth with lived experiences of homelessness or being stuck in institutional systems who have a lot to teach ‘policy experts’ - Major departments within the Texas systems of juvenile justice, youth providing services and foster care seeing the value of voices from youth with lived experiences and coming to the conference to learn more. - Major school systems from across the state attended the conference not just to learn how to better serve homeless and systems-involved youth, but recognizing that trauma-informed approaches better serves all students.  I got to interview @Steven Wick, the original founder of TNOYS, and learn more about its rich history and roots. I met many of the current staff, a diverse, highly skilled and extremely passionate group of individuals looking to change the lives of disconnected youth across the state of Texas.  There is a lot to learn from our friends in Texas! (I know, Texas? But yes.)  Thank you Fedora Galasso, Tessa Ammons and your committed team for an amazing conference. Go #TNOYS #NonprofitInnovation #collaborationrocks

  • TNOYS is honored to be among just 38 organizations nationwide to receive a Youth Homelessness System Improvement (YHSI) grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This first-of-its-kind grant is an incredible opportunity to invest in coordinated, accessible homelessness services that center youth and young adults' needs. Stay tuned for details on how you can get involved in TNOYS’ work to address youth homelessness, and check out our press release for more details: https://lnkd.in/gwz2wDZt
