Remote access to Critical Infrastructure Cyber Assets introduces wider attack surfaces for the Bulk Power System (BPS). On November 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Central, Texas RE will discuss remote connectivity and the important role it plays in ensuring the security and reliability of the grid.

In 2020, a consortium of electric industry associations published a report on the Impact of Proposed Wi-Fi Operations on Microwave Links at 6 GHz. The 6 GHz band of the radio spectrum is widely used by a broad array of industries responsible for critical infrastructure such as electric, gas and water utilities, railroads, and wireless carriers, as well as by public safety and law enforcement officials. Tomorrow's guest speaker David Grubbs will provide an update on this important issue.

Texas RE agrees with the criticality of natural gas to electric reliability. We’ve been very intentional in recent years about including gas organizations such as the Railroad Commission of Texas, the American Gas Association, and the Oil and Natural Gas Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ONG-ISAC) in our outreach efforts. We also have an upcoming Talk with Texas RE on October 9 with guest presenter Jonathan Booe of the NORTH AMERICAN ENERGY STANDARDS BOARD INC where he will cover electric and oil and natural gas industry coordination.

Next Thursday's Talk with Texas RE will feature guest speaker Kellie Macpherson from Radian Generation where she will discuss supply chain issues specific to renewable energy. Registration and additional info are available at the link below.
