Earlier this month, Texas Rural Funders was in Santa Fe for Philanthropy Southwest! Our executive director, Kelty Garbee, and Ellen Osborne Ray led “We Can Do More Together: Capacity Building in Rural Communities,” a session dedicated to how creative, strategic philanthropic collaboration can multiply rural impact. Evan Wolstencroft, our program manager, moderated “Anchors Aweigh: Cross-Sector Partnerships Between Philanthropy and Community Anchor Institutions,” a panel about how funders can partner with rural anchors, using real stories of impact from our members: Judy Quisenberry, Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation; Darryl Tocker, Tocker Foundation; and Katy Sauer, MSSW, The Still Water Foundation - Texas. Wrapping up a great week, our Board Member Michelle D. Monse, Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation received the Pillar of Philanthropy Award for her transformative leadership. A big thanks to the team at PSW for bringing together grant makers from across the Southwestern U.S. to celebrate how philanthropy can do more for our communities when we do it together!

The future of Texas depends on strong, successful rural communities.
About us
Texas Rural Funders is a statewide philanthropic collaborative focused on bringing attention and resources to rural Texas. Our diverse group of over 35 funders are large and small, rural and urban, state-based and national. Individually, we focus on education, healthcare, natural resources, and infrastructure. But together, we focus on projects that require collective action and can’t be solved by one organization alone. We are dedicated to working with rural communities to develop and implement solutions to the unique challenges they face.
