Amin Kiaghadi, Ph.D., P.E., serves as the Manager of the Coastal Science Department at the Texas Water Development Board, where he oversees a diverse range of projects aimed at improving coastal resilience, flood planning, and water resource management. Currently, Amin is leading multiple crucial initiatives, including advanced hydrologic, hydrodynamic, and coastal flood modeling, with the goal of enhancing our understanding of the risks associated with natural hazards such as hurricanes and droughts, as well as their interactions with local water systems and coastal ecosystems. For Amin, working in the water industry holds great significance as water is an essential resource, particularly in a state like Texas where both urban and rural communities rely on it for survival. With a lifelong passion for addressing environmental challenges, he finds immense satisfaction in working on projects that help mitigate the impacts of floods and droughts, safeguard ecosystems, and strengthen community resilience. The delicate balance between preserving natural habitats and meeting the needs of growing communities is a stimulating and fulfilling challenge, and Amin takes pride in being a part of this effort at the TWDB. #FacesofTWDB #RestoreYourCoast #WadeIn #NationalEstuariesWeek #EstuariesWeek #CoastalScience
