Investments in Texas water require data, vision, planning and political will. Our 2024 Texas Water Capital Needs Survey highlights what is driving the investment needs and we have a good idea what it will cost to secure the water future of Texas. The recent report from Texas 2036 validates our data with a pricetag of approximately $150 billion. We have a lot of work to do.... #txwater #txlege #water #infrastructure #TXWIN #2036 Access the survey results here: https://lnkd.in/ejFpKPn7 Access the 2036 report here: https://lnkd.in/e4UY-GT3

Congratulations RAVA Construction LLC and North Texas Municipal Water District! TXWIN members are building the future of Texas Water! #txwater #TXWIN #txlege
RAVA Construction has been awarded the prime contract for the construction of the Wylie Water Treatment Plant Campus Biologically Active Filtration for the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), designed by Carollo Engineers. The project—located in Wylie, Texas—has a contract value of approximately $22.4M. This project is located primarily at the Wylie Water Treatment Plant III with minor construction at the Wylie Water Treatment Plant II. The scope of work includes a chemical metering vault, large diameter pipe demolition and new large diameter pipe installation, interconnection of new large diameter piping with existing piping, new chemical feed piping and chemical trenching, and associated instrumentation and controls modifications at the Wylie WTP III. The work at Wylie WTP II includes modifications to the instrumentation and controls only. The project will begin in November 2024 and is expected to be completed in November 2026. We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with the North Texas Municipal Water Department, as this will be our fourth project with NTMWD and the City of Wylie. #RAVAConstruction #RAVAUSA #TexasConstruction #CityofWylie #NTMWD #MunicipalWater #WylieTexas

This is a must read from Texas 2036 for anyone interested in securing the future of Texas water. Some great data and information here for water advocates and policy makers as we prepare for the Texas Legislature to convene in January 2025. We also appreciate the inclusion of data from our 2024 Texas Water Capital Needs Survey in the report. #txwater #water #funding #txlege #infrastructure
The continuation of Texas' economic miracle depends on how state leaders address our long-term water infrastructure challenges. These include expanding our water supply portfolio for a drought prone and growing state, and addressing the growing problem of aging, deteriorating water systems. This new report I wrote for Texas 2036 describes the potential economic consequences of if Texas fails to invest in addressing these challenges. As soon as the 2030s, drought-induced water shortages could precipitate job and GDP losses worse than those endured during the Great Recession and COVID Pandemic. Failing, deteriorating water systems will inflict nearly $320 billion in damages over the next five years. For comparison, this is the size of the current state budget. This report includes a detailed analysis of how the state's projected funding efforts will likely fall short of the $154 billion needed in the coming decades to address our water challenges. While a significant funding gap exists, the problem is not impossible to solve. Just as state leaders and voters have approved dedicated revenue streams to support our transportation infrastructure needs, the same can be done for water. Reliable, consistent funding for water infrastructure sets Texas on the critical path towards closing this funding gap, enhancing our resilience to future droughts, fixing our broken water systems, and cementing a firm foundation for continued economic growth. Texas has exhibited phenomenal national leadership when it comes to water. Smart, forward-looking state policies, an innovative water industry, and even the Texas economic miracle itself are testament to this success. As this report points out, a dedicated water infrastructure funding strategy supports continued job and GDP growth -- hallmarks of our economic miracle -- in the years to come. https://lnkd.in/gjfffexc

The 2024 Texas Water Capital Needs Survey showed that the greatest driver of future infrastructure projects was identified as the need to replace aging infrastructure. With respondents representing utilities of varying sizes and revenue streams across the state, it was clear that the top water infrastructure needs identified centered around this growing concern.
