  • TMA President G. Ray Callas, MD, and chief lobbyist Clayton Stewart closed out the Business of Medicine Conference with a preview of top battles to come during the 2025 legislative session. Whether fending off scope creep or health insurers to protect patient care, “that’s where your expertise comes in to educate lawmakers,” Mr. Stewart said, urging physicians to get involved.

  • The Texas Delegation prepped last night to take Texas’ physicians top issues to the AMA’s interim meeting in November and to the U.S. Capitol early next year. “The No. 1 unifying message around Medicare reform is fixing the [cost inflation measure] and we actually have a legislative vehicle to do that,” AMA Board Chair Michael Suk, MD, said.

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to permeate many facets of medicine and TMA’s Business of Medicine Conference. “AI systems need to adapt over time, and as clinicians, we need to stay informed about these advancements,” Alvaro Moreira, MD, a consultant to TMA’s HIT Committee said during one of two CME sessions dedicated to the topic.
