Forced labor is the most common form of human trafficking in the U.K. It happens when someone is made to work through physical threats, psychological coercion, deception, or abuse. Labor trafficking usually occurs in the hidden parts of an economy. It’s prevalent in industries of service (ei. car washes and salons) and supply chains like agriculture and manufacturing where unofficial, informal practices allow exploitation to take place more easily. Europe holds a significant place for us in the fight against human trafficking, being where it all began for A21. Our Co-Founder, Christine Caine, was walking through an airport in Greece when she saw a Missing Person Poster of a young girl with the same name as her daughter. When she learned the faces on the posters were alleged victims of human trafficking, there was no turning back—marking the beginning of A21. Since 2008, we have had initiatives on the ground across Europe and today we continue to be at the forefront of the fight against trafficking in the region. #BREAKINGNEWS from Greece! Six survivors have found freedom from labor trafficking! 👏 Two men bravely reported their situation through the Labor Inspectorate, and A21 is now providing them with legal assistance, housing support, and help in securing employment. In a police operation, four more survivors (two men and two women) were recovered. A21 has stepped in to provide legal, medical, and psychological support for these courageous individuals. All six survivors will continue to receive holistic support through our Freedom Center programs as they reclaim their freedom, one step at a time. We celebrate their resilience and thank you for making freedom possible!

#BREAKINGNEWS Today, we celebrate the FREEDOM of one woman from sex trafficking in Bulgaria. Our team has met her immediate needs, providing safe accommodation, clothing, and care packages. Through our Aftercare program, she will be able to receive counseling, life skills classes, and legal support as she seeks justice against her traffickers.
